Department Overview

Nomura's Finance department manages the company's financial operations and provides financial guidance to support business decision-making. The team collaborates with senior leadership, business units, and stakeholders to develop effective financial strategies, providing guidance on financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to align financial operations with business objectives.

Role Description

Reporting directly to Korea CFO locally, the VP Finance Control will oversee financial accounting, regulatory compliance, and tax coordination for Nomura’s Korea branch, ensuring accurate reporting, adherence to US GAAP/Korean standards, and strategic financial leadership.

Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Manage all aspects of financial accounting and regulatory reporting, including regulatory capital monitoring and compliance
• Prepare accurate US GAAP financial reports for head office consolidation
• Ensure timely and compliant regulatory filings with Korean financial authorities

Regulatory & Tax Compliance

• Coordinate and manage relationships with regulatory, tax, and governmental agencies regarding the firm's financial position
• Oversee local tax compliance and reporting requirements

Strategic Leadership

• Lead and execute onshore financial projects and initiatives
• Provide strategic financial guidance to Seoul branch leadership
• Support additional responsibilities as assigned by Korea CFO

Requirements

• University degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a Finance Control position within banking/financial services
• Experience in US GAAP and Korean accounting regulations
• Experience in regulatory reporting (OTC, derivatives, capital compliance) and Tax compliance (local Korean tax experience)
• Must be able to work well under tight deadlines and handle multiple responsibilities
• Able to explain complex issues, policies, and procedures to varied stakeholders across senior
• Self-starter and eager to learn, able to take ownership of issues and drive to conclusion with particular emphasis on time to market.
• Communicate confidently to senior desk heads across various business lines.
• Strong negotiation and conflict management skills.
