Oliver Wyman is looking to recruit an expereinced research professional to join our growing research team in Gurugram as a Senior Research Analyst with a focus on Aerospace and Defense projects.

Job Overview:

We are seeking experienced research professional to join our Oliver Wyman Knowledge Department. You will work closely with partners and consultants in the Transportation and Advanced Industrials (TAI) Practice Group to support partners, principals and consultants globally on primarily aerospace & defence (A&D) projects. This role requires an in-depth understanding of the sector as well as a firm grasp on analytical skills to be able to interpret, create and update market models within the gamut of the project. The wider scope may also include other TAI verticals such as aviation, vector, industrial goods, automotive, logistics, and rail. We are looking for a colleague with a nimble and agile mindset to extend support to other practice groups also in case the need arises.

Oliver Wyman's TAI practice provides an array of capabilities to support investment decision making, backed by deep expertise across diverse industry sectors. Our clients include the largest independent MRO providers, aircraft, land and naval systems manufacturers, defence ministries and service branches, national security and public-safety organizations, government services companies, private equity and institutional investors, airports, and more.

The Knowledge Department supports our consultants with planning and execution of on-demand research projects as well as the interpretation, evaluation, and preparation of results. You will have expert level research skills and ability to quickly develop knowledge of research tools to facilitate effective and creative research approaches. You will be helping consultants and research colleagues to scope and develop their research needs, conduct timely, accurate and cost-effective research and deliver compelling synthesized research products. You will work with a wide range of information tools and proprietary databases to provide research for client projects and business development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with a wide range of information tools and proprietary databases, providing both quick solutions and in-depth research for the business.

  • Synthesize information and glean key concepts and trends from the information, provide own point of view and basic insights into the deliverables. The ability to think critically and develop the most efficient solutions to information requirements is key in this role.

  • Collaborate with consultants engaged in client service, business development or intellectual capital building by delivering highly relevant and well-synthesized research.

  • Directly engage in strategic projects, together with our research specialists and consultants, contribute to updates and maintenance of customized knowledge products

  • Develop strong trusted relationships with practice members and research colleagues to promote effective knowledge sharing and a positive work environment.

  • Independently manage the pipeline of industry-specific tasks, set priorities, and collaborate with a team of international colleagues to meet client demands. You will be required to exercise independent judgment to solve internal client demands. This will involve prioritizing your own work to satisfy competing needs and building excellent task management and time management skills

  • Use MS Office tools to produce graphical portrayal of research findings, customized to project needs

Experience and Skills Required

  • We require a minimum of a graduate degree or an MBA with at least 3-5 years of research experience in TAI, especially in aerospace and defence preferably in a management consulting or research firm. Additional exposure to aviation, maritime, surface transport and logistics would be a plus

  • Excellent English skills - proficiency is a must

  • Experience of working with specialised data resources such as IATA, BMI Fitch, CAPA, Cirium, Janes, MEEDS, IJGlobal, PlaneStats, and Transport Intelligence (GSCi)

  • Experience of working with generalist databases such as Capital IQ Pro, Refinitiv, Factiva and MergerMarket

  • Excellent research synthesis skills with ability draw key insights from data and to provide basic analysis of findings

  • Strong grasp of industry taxonomy and credible working knowledge of market models, including their analysis.

  • Excellent Excel skills. Proficiency with rest of MS Office suite. Familiarity with tools such Power BI, SQL, etc. would be an advantage

  • Demonstrate flexibility in catering to research demands of other sectors, if needed to address a heavy pipeline

  • Ability to operate under pressure with tight deadlines to meet the needs of a high paced globally focused.

  • Creative problem-solving skills and inquisitive nature with tenacious drive to solve complex research challenges

  • Strong desire to be a part of a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment with willingness to suggest and test new ideas / ways of working

  • The enthusiasm and ability to apply Generative AI tools to enhance efficiency and quality of research deliverables
