Oliver Wyman Vector is seeking a Lead Specialist for Operations Excellence (Aviation, Rail or Energy sectors) to join our team in London.

Oliver Wyman Vector is a special business unit of Oliver Wyman, focused on top-tier technical consulting and services to the aviation, aerospace, defense, and rail sectors.

This Lead Specialist (Operations Excellence) role requires a subject matter expert (SME) with extensive experience in operational improvement across the aviation, rail, or energy sectors.

Your expertise will be critical in driving improvements in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) processes, enhancing client performance and satisfaction

Please Note: Oliver Wyman/Marsh operates a hybrid working policy and this role involves at least 60% travel to client sites around the UK and Europe

As Lead Specialist, key responsibilities will include:

  • Client Engagement:

    • Facilitating high-level discussions and workshops, engaging clients across all organizational levels.

    • Presenting tailored solutions and advanced technical guidance to address complex operational challenges.

  • Project Management:

    • Leading multifaceted projects with a focus on quality, timelines, and stakeholder engagement.

    • Conducting rigorous quality checks and serve as the final approver for deliverables, ensuring alignment with client and firm standards.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Providing insights into operational best practices and advocate for continuous improvement initiatives.

    • Addressing emergent operational issues through innovative problem-solving techniques, driving effective resolution

    • Familiarity with process mapping, value stream mapping, SIPOCs and other relevant methodologies

  • Process Improvement:

    • Documenting and optimizing processes to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Developing and implementing actionable plans for effective change management, driving significant client improvements

  • Team Development:

    • Mentoring junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

    • Modelling inclusive leadership, promoting collaboration and respect within the team to enhance performance.

Who we are looking for…

  • You’ll have at least 4 years of experience in focusing on operational excellence and process improvement, within the aviation, energy or rail sectors.

  • Proven project management experience with demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams

  • Strong analytical capabilities and organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, able to tailor messages for diverse audiences.

  • Competence in risk identification, analysis, and mitigation strategies.

  • Certifications in project management and change management will be highly advantageous

  • You will be educated to at least Degree level
