Why we need you
As a Director in our Asia Pacific Region aligned to Technical Services, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects and strategic initiatives that enhance client technical operations and fleet management capabilities. You will serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor, driving business development in the region, coaching project managers and specialists, and aligning team efforts with Oliver Wyman Vector’s strategic goals. This role requires a blend of deep technical knowledge, leadership acumen, Asia Pacific market and client understanding, and commercial savvy to deliver high-impact solutions within a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
What we’ll count on you to do
- Lead and oversee large-scale technical services projects across the APAC region, ensuring delivery excellence, client satisfaction, and alignment with firm goals, while driving high performance and innovation.
- Act as a subject matter expert in technical services disciplines including maintenance program development, task card authoring and management, technical publications, maintenance repair and overhaul processes, and continuing airworthiness management.
- Lead the design and implementation of innovative technical frameworks and methodologies, leveraging emerging trends and technologies to solve broad, complex problems.
- Proactively manage client relationships within the region, establishing yourself as a trusted advisor through culturally sensitive engagement, empathetic communication, and diplomatic leadership in high-impact discussions.
- Drive business development efforts within the Technical Services focus area by identifying and pursuing new client opportunities, negotiating effectively, and expanding existing accounts with a focus on higher-value solutions.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to integrate Oliver Wyman Vector’s capabilities and deliver comprehensive, right-sized solutions that address complex client challenges.
- Coach, mentor, and motivate project managers, specialists, and cross-functional teams to enhance performance, foster resilience, and support professional growth through structured feedback and thoughtful delegation.
- Promote continuous development by setting learning paths for yourself and your team, role modeling feedback-seeking behavior, and encouraging exploration of new ideas and skills
- Foster a culture of inclusion, accountability, and work-life balance within your teams and client engagements, advocating for under-represented groups and upholding firm values.
- Anticipate and manage delivery and operational risks by proposing mitigation strategies and escalating issues appropriately to ensure project success.
- Represent Oliver Wyman Vector at industry forums, conferences, and client meetings, articulating the firm’s differentiation and thought leadership with clarity and cultural awareness.
What you’ll bring
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in aviation technical services or related aerospace/aviation engineering and maintenance disciplines within the APAC region.
- Proven track record leading large, complex technical projects and multi-disciplinary teams in regulated environments.
- Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management within aviation or aerospace sectors.
- Deep knowledge of maintenance program development, technical publications, airworthiness management, and related regulatory frameworks.
- Strong leadership skills with experience coaching and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging senior executives and diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with digital tools and software that enhance technical services productivity and quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma) are a plus.
- Must be able to live and work in Malaysia without company sponsorship.
