Who we are

Oliver Wyman, a Marsh (NYSE: MRSH) business, is a management consulting firm driven by deep industry insight, bold innovation, and a collaborative approach that cuts through complexity to help organizations navigate their most defining transformative moments.

The Practice

Oliver Wyman helps industry leaders in the consumer, telco, and technology industries develop value growth strategies, improve operations, and maximize organizational effectiveness.

In Consumer, Telco, and Technology (CTT), we see consumer-facing industries converging, with technology continuing to disrupt all business models, and B2C, B2B and B2B2C services models ever-growing. We are aiming to build new partner connections by bringing together those serving consumer facing businesses, such as retailers, as well as technology, communications, media and services, in order to further elevate our narratives and exco-relevance while maintaining deep sub-sector capabilities.

What you will do

Engagement Managers are critical leaders within our consulting team, working side-by-side with our clients. The position offers excellent career and growth opportunities for talented, highly motivated professionals with relevant prior experience. Initial responsibilities typically include:

  • Leading and managing complex programs to ensure on-time delivery that meets agreed upon goals, leveraging Oliver Wyman best practice, their own expertise and the firm’s technical competence
  • Managing the execution of individual project modules. This typically includes developing hypotheses, managing data collection, model creation and analyses, conducting primary and secondary research, creatively tackling information limitations, and surfacing insights.
  • Owning and developing executive client relationships, presenting to a wide range of audiences, and working day-to-day with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Guiding and influencing clients in an informed way across all situations including execution of the commercial process, becoming trusted advisors.
  • Developing others and build a followership as part of their asset building for the firm
  • Supporting Principals/Partners in project execution through excellent project management, including work planning, workflow management, and coaching / developing more junior team members
  • Managing and developing the capabilities of junior consulting staff.

Desired skills and experience

Just as every client project is different, so we recognize and value the diversity of backgrounds and skillsets for successful candidates. We are seeking high-calibre individuals who want to join our winning team. Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • A minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in Retail, Consumer Goods, Telecommunications, and Technology sectors, preferably gained at a top-tier strategy consulting firm (or a comparable organization), or through industry experience within a strategy department or in-house consulting function.
  • In-depth knowledge of the sector, either gained through experience in the industry or in other consultancy houses
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills and ability to conduct and leverage sophisticated analyses to identify trends, draw conclusions and present recommendations
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both formal and informal settings
  • Know how to take the initiative, seeking out opportunities to learn new skills and put the ones you’ve already got to good use
  • Have an aptitude for analytical work, like sniffing out clues in massive data sets or hunting down the key issues in a hugely complex challenge
  • Willingness to travel
