Job Summary:
The OHS Manager is responsible for implementing OHS programs and initiatives in support of PECNA’s battery production. You will play a key role in the day-to-day operations in the production process, driving safety on the production floor. This individual must be able to manage and coach teams and drive company OHS Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). The Manager will work directly with production mangers, supervisors, EHS technicians, safety champions, consultants, and vendors to maintain compliance and mitigate risk by implementing best practices within PECNA’s integrated management system.
Essential Duties:
Safety Leadership and Culture
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization
- Coach OHS team members and production safety teams to foster a High-Performance Safety Culture
- Participate in safety committee meetings and lead efforts to resolve identified safety issues
Risk Management and Compliance
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate safety risks in production areas
- Conduct and review risk assessments; recommend and implement safety improvements in equipment and processes
- Serve as subject matter expert for key OHS programs including LOTO, Machine Guarding, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Laboratory Safety, and Radiation Safety
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal safety policies through audits, inspections, and documentation
Incident Response and Continuous Improvement
- Lead and support thorough incident investigations; ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed
- Collect, analyze, and communicate safety data using internal and commercial platforms to support compliance and improvement initiatives
- Assist with revisions to OHS programs, policies, training, and guidance materials
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Operational Support
- Collaborate with production managers, supervisors, EHS technicians, safety champions, consultants, and vendors to implement safety best practices
- Support projects to enhance safety in existing production lines and contribute to the safe launch of new equipment and capacity
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports and permitting documentation as required
- Support implementation of 6S in production areas and contribute to overall process improvement efforts
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Sr. Manager of Occupational Health and Safety
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. Respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

Qualifications
Requirements - Required and/or Preferred:
Education
- Required: High school diploma, GED, or a minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a related functional area
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field, or 10 years of manufacturing experience in a role focused on regulatory compliance
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on occupational health and safety or regulatory compliance
- Ability to develop and manage safety programs, draft policies, and handle permitting using relevant software tools
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and other applicable safety codes and best practices
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective/preventive actions
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage personnel at all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in high-risk, fast-paced industrial settings
- Proficiency with EHS management systems, digital reporting tools, and incident tracking software
- Ability to wear and work in PPE, including respirators and hazmat suits, as required by functional area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting
- Experience working in high-tech or hazardous material manufacturing environments (e.g., lithium-ion battery, chemical, semiconductor, or automotive)
- Experience supporting industrial hygiene programs, such as air sampling, noise monitoring, or chemical exposure assessments
- Training or certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or 6S implementation
- Alignment to Panasonic’s seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude)
Preferred Certification(s):
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent credential
