Responsibilities
What You'll Get To Do
Responsible for product engineering about the battery disconnect unit (BDU) designed to efficiently distribute power throughout the electric vehicle (EV) for GM/ Honda project. We are looking for a Product Engineer to provide engineering support with our customers and quality support for BDU in North America.
Field engineer for current GM business:
- Main contact person for local technical discussions with GM engineers.
- Regular technical discussions about three times a week, visits to GM development centers.
- Technical response to GM in local time.
- Facilitate the resolution of BDU technical issues with Panasonic teams in Japan and Mexico (regular meetings several times a week). Global Meetings may take place early AM possibly 7-8pm EST.
Quality support for Customer:
- Provide very high-quality support to customers.
- Quick response and discussion in local time.
- Visit the GM Plant to confirm the customer's problem.
- Early investigation of the root cause and countermeasures with Panasonic Mexico factory and Japan members.
Factory Program Management:
- Management of programs involving customers, Mexico, and Japan development.
- Local promotion of 4M change management with Mexico factory
- Resolve development schedule issues with customers and within the Panasonic.
- To solve supply chain issues
New BDU business development proposal:
- Contributing to the growth of Panasonic's BDU business.
- Propose Panasonic's BDU technology to customers.
- Lead BDU competition projects (RFI and RFQ)
Scope:
- Reports to General Manager- System Product Group, Automotive & Mobility Solutions Division
- Efficiently handles activities for assigned customers and products.
- Manage BDU technical issue solving and development schedule with Customer, factory and Japan team
- Manage BDU supply chain issue to cooperate with PIDSA/PASA and PIDMX.
Qualifications
What You'll Bring
Education & Experience:
- Five or more years of automotive product engineering experience is required.
- Knowledge and experience with the Automotive Industry
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Business experience at Japanese company is preferred.
- A college degree is required. technical or engineering required.
Competencies:
- Build Through Teamwork: Ability to work constructively and co-operatively with people across the organization.
- Project management skills (Identify the problem and find a solution).
Communications:
- Strong written, oral communication capabilities with Customer are required.
- Communication with Japanese is preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Meeting with global factory (Early morning and evening) when needed.
- Hybrid work style.(At least 1day/week in office)
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must have or be able to obtain valid passport with no travel restrictions.

The wage range of $100,000 - $115,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. *The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
