The Manager of Sales Engineering – Government East is responsible for leading a regional team of Sales Engineers who support the technical presales and solution design efforts for federal, state, local, and public safety customers. This position ensures that Panasonic TOUGHBOOK solutions are expertly positioned, technically validated, and aligned to the mission-critical needs of government agencies.

Responsibilities
What You'll Get To Do:
This role manages daily operations, coaching, and execution of technical sales strategies across the Government East territory. The Manager plays a key role in developing Sales Engineers into trusted advisors, enabling successful proof-of-concepts, and collaborating with Sales and Product teams to support strategic growth in the government vertical.
Team Leadership and Technical Sales Enablement
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of Government Sales Engineers focused on state, local, and public safety accounts.
- Oversee daily engagement in technical presales activities such as requirements gathering, product demos, solution design, and RFP responses.
- Ensure Sales Engineers are fully trained on TOUGHBOOK hardware, software, and partner technologies.
- Drive vertical-specific technical excellence aligned with sales strategy and customer priorities.
- Ensure Sales Engineers are meeting established KPIs and take corrective action when gaps are discovered
- Drive highly profitable Consulting Services in the Gov. East Vertical
Field Support and Opportunity Management
- Partner with field sales to support pipeline growth, opportunity qualification, and technical win strategies.
- Coordinate SE participation in customer engagements including presentations, product evaluations, and onsite visits.
- Track technical success metrics across assigned region (e.g., demo-to-close ratios, technical win rates).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Post-Sales teams to align customer needs with product roadmaps and technical resources.
- Participate in technical planning for new product launches, vertical initiatives, and account-specific programs.
- Serve as the feedback loop for frontline SEs to communicate market insights and field requirements.
Training, Compliance, and Documentation
- Ensure SEs maintain knowledge of relevant compliance frameworks (e.g., CJIS, FIPS) and vertical-specific technology stacks.
- Support onboarding, continuous training, and professional development of team members.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of demo scripts, vertical-specific presentations, and technical documentation.
Qualifications
What You'll Bring:
- 5+ years in Sales Engineering, Solution Architecture, or Technical Consulting roles
- 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring Sales Engineers or technical presales teams
- Familiarity with government procurement processes, public safety solutions, and rugged device use cases
- Deep understanding of enterprise mobility, wireless communications (WWAN/WLAN), and deployment tools (Intune, SCCM, MDT)
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- Experience working with or supporting public sector/government clients required
- Technical certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, PMP) are a plus

The salary range below is just one component of Panasonic Connect's total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives.
