The Position:

JOB SUMMARY

Plan and coordinate the day-to-day work activities of Repair Technicians to maximize the efficiency of the repair workforce, minimize delays, and continually meet the production goals of the Repair Shop. Ensures that all necessary work records are properly executed and performs audits to ensure that repair processes conform to regulatory requirements and quality manual requirements. Successfully interact with all levels of the technical staff and senior management at Panasonic Avionics Corporation. Perform as primary contact on regulatory matters. Work with Department to ensure staff are assigned to obtain daily goals, provide guidance to team and provide performance feedback to Manager on workload status and mitigation actions to ensure future goals are met.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervisory
    • Supervise the day-to-day local Repair Station Operation for assigned teams, using established policies, processes and guidelines.
    • Hire, train, supervise, and appraise direct reports.
    • Coordinate with leadership to assign daily repair duties as needed to maximize repair efficiency and maintain Shop turn-around-time (TAT) and productivity for repairs.
    • Ensure all Repair Technicians are trained in local/regional systems and equipped to efficiently and productively perform their jobs.
    • Review and provide input into procedures to eliminate waste and promote individual responsibility and accountability.
    • Perform regular informal observations to ensure that repair processes conform to relevant National Aviation Authority (NAA) regulations and quality manual requirements. Report discrepancies to management for investigation/correction.
    • Assist in ensuring that all necessary work records are properly executed by team.
    • Manage workflow to achieve assigned monthly both operational and financial targets are met.
    • May step in, in Manager’s absence.

  • Repair Work
    • Perform the set-up, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.
    • Perform hand set-ups for digital tests. Recognize failures and set-up problems, and determine the need for appropriate verification.
    • Record required information on all repairs and publication discrepancies.
    • Position and align parts and components. Secure them in place or remove them using appropriate, various methods including soldering, crimping, fastening, gluing, etc.
    • Install assemblies in cases or cabinets.
    • Generate repair cost quotation worksheets to be transmitted to end customer.
    • Assess design configuration status of units under repair by referencing engineering documentation and maintenance manuals.
    • Identify and navigate to appropriate electronic engineering and maintenance documentation to conduct repair actions.
    • Any other task as assigned by the Management team.

The salary or hourly wage range of $31.73 – $53.37 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements to ensure that shop operations are in regulatory compliance.
  • Good understanding of “Human Factors” and how they affect the workplace.
  • Builds customer satisfaction through identification, tracking, reporting and successfully overcoming technical repair issues.
  • Ability to interface with customers.
  • Effective organization, problem-solving, and communication and leadership skills;
  • Must be able to successfully communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions, procedures, blueprints, diagrams, manuals and to comprehend and follow verbal instruction in English.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be well organized and able to balance multiple projects with competing priorities in a fast-paced repair production environment.
  • Works on issues where analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent internationally recognized qualification.
  • Certification for IPC 617/7711A or WHMA-A-620A within six months of hire.
  • 5 years’ experience in electronics, test, assembly or engineering, including time in an avionics production/service environment.
  • Prior supervisory experience and/or managerial training preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • May require up to 10% domestic or international travel.

Paid time off: Exempt Salaried employees receive flexible paid time off. This means that there is no fixed number, range, or limit to the amount of Personal and Vacation Days that may be taken for exempt employees. Non-exempt hourly employees accrue 14 vacation days per year + 7 sick days + 3 personal days. Accrual rate increases with tenure. All employees receive 11 company paid holidays per year. We also close our offices at the corporate level in the U.S. between Christmas and New Year. For operational positions that are expected to work on holidays, we provide additional compensation for hours worked.
