Position Overview: Responsible for leading a high-performing engineering team to design, develop, deliver, and support software products and platforms. The role combines technical depth with strong people leadership to ensure engineering excellence, predictable execution, and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Manage and direct software engineering activities to design new products, enhance existing solutions, and improve development and testing processes.
Lead teams in defining technical approaches, architectural decisions, and delivery plans while ensuring alignment with product definitions, project schedules, and compliance requirements. - Drive architectural decisions related to performance, media, graphics, memory, and user experience within aviation hardware constraints. Own end-to-end software delivery for major airline programs and enforce robust testing strategies including unit testing, UI automation, performance benchmarking, and long-duration stability testing.
- Collaborate closely with management, production, and marketing teams to evaluate feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand. Analyze technology trends to identify opportunities for product enhancements.
Manage development of test methodologies, plans, and procedures, and ensure compliance with environmental and product requirements. - Hire, train, develop, and appraise team members. Anticipate financial needs, manage budgets, and support project planning through accurate forecasting and scheduling.
Qualifications
Strong technical expertise in Android application development (Java/Kotlin) with deep knowledge of media frameworks (ExoPlayer or custom players), UI frameworks, graphics rendering, and animations is preferred.
Solid understanding of Agile development, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing. Demonstrated experience optimizing performance on constrained hardware environments (low RAM, limited GPU).
Experience working with global engineering teams, strong communication skills to interface with airline customers and senior leadership, and excellent problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to operate with high autonomy, translate objectives into execution plans, and coordinate teams through complex technical challenges.
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, with 5+ years of software engineering experience, and 2+ years in a leadership role.
