Job Summary:

The Security Manager will be responsible for managing all physical security responsibilities for facilities with the largest share of responsibility being security operations located at the Panasonic Energy Factory in De Soto, Kansas. This position reports to the Sr. Director, US Security and Organizational Resilience and will work with various site functions and internal and external customers, such as, Production leaders, Human Resources, Employee Health and Safety, Emergency Management, local law enforcement, and contract security firms. The primary objective of this position is to supervise the Site Security team, safeguard the facility / grounds, all employees, resources and products, and act as a lead during a crisis/emergency. This position may require limited travel, working non-business hours and potentially weekends as needed.

Essential Duties:

Functional Leadership & Operations:

  • Manage the local Site Security Team for Kansas-area facilities, ensuring its relevance and effectiveness
  • Oversee physical security operations for the KS area facilities
  • Protect the company, employees, customers, and company assets from internal and external threats within all KS Facilities
  • Facilitate meetings and briefings with diverse stakeholders during or after security events
  • Demonstrate initiative and manage multiple assignments with efficiency, ensuring timely and accurate completion of responsibilities

Strategic Alignment & Continuous Improvement:

  • Help develop, implement, and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures
  • Evaluate current risks and implement mitigation strategies aligned with company priorities
  • Stay informed on emergency management best practices, standards, and technologies; recommend updates to company processes as needed
  • Implement proactive problem-solving strategies using internal and external best practices

Team Development & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Plan, deliver, and improve security programs including seminars, tabletop exercises, drills, and functional simulations
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training exercises to ensure security plans are robust and participants are well-prepared
  • Foster internal capabilities by developing core competencies among key personnel

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with PECNA staff and other internal partners to support a unified security strategy
  • Build and maintain professional working relationships with all security vendors/contracts, local law enforcement agencies ensuring
  • Attend and participate in security preparedness meetings with local, regional, state, and federal agencies, addressing relevant recommendations and outcomes
  • Assist with business continuity planning and engage in post-incident recovery strategies with internal teams and community partners

Quality, Safety, Compliance, & Risk Management:

  • Remain available to respond to incidents on a 24/7 basis, within reason, by assessing situations, triaging, and escalating to appropriate stakeholders
  • Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction and site security team which includes but is not limited to guard services, access control, security investigation teams and other security contractors/vendors to ensure they are delivering quality services and that all company requirements are being met.

Travel Requirement:

  • Limited — occasional travel to support training, coordination, or post-incident response at other sites

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in security with a major corporation and/or law enforcement, military, intelligence, or private sector security organization
  • 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role overseeing both management staff and large teams of indirect reports including contract personnel
  • Strong knowledge of physical security and risk assessment methodologies, including threat assessments of geographies, geopolitical risks, physical locations, and personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to real-world incidents under pressure
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with an ability to communicate clearly across all levels of an organization
  • Strong decision-making, prioritization, and problem-solving skills in dynamic and high-pressure environments
  • Technological proficiency with security notification systems, planning software, and training tools
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
  • Experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or high-risk operational environment (e.g., energy, chemicals, or heavy equipment)
  • Familiarity with lithium-ion battery risks, hazardous materials handling, and facility-based security protocols
  • Ability to inspire and lead cross-functional emergency teams and drive a culture of safety and preparedness
  • Alignment with Panasonic’s seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.
