Responsibilities

The Position:

This role emphasizes strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on development, and secure system design. The MTS V, Software Engineer will build robust, production-grade software applications and platform services that enable secure GitOps-driven deployments, Kubernetes-based infrastructure automation, and configuration transformation systems.

This is a senior individual contributor role with deep ownership of software architecture, code quality, system reliability, security posture, and technical direction.

Core Responsibilities:

Software Design & Architecture

  • Architect and design scalable, modular, maintainable, and secure software systems using modern design principles and patterns.
  • Translate complex functional, security, and system requirements into well-defined technical designs.
  • Drive API design, service contracts, and integration strategies across distributed components with secure communication patterns.
  • Embed security controls such as authentication, authorization, encryption, and policy enforcement into system designs.
  • Ensure software solutions are resilient, testable, observable, and production-ready.

Hands-on Software Development

  • Write high-quality, performant, and secure production code (Go preferred).
  • Implement microservices, controllers, automation agents, and platform tooling with secure coding practices.
  • Develop reusable libraries and frameworks that incorporate built-in security guardrails.
  • Conduct code reviews focusing on code quality, performance, and vulnerability prevention.
  • Refactor and optimize existing systems for performance, scalability, maintainability, and security hardening.
  • Integrate secure software supply chain practices (artifact signing, provenance, dependency scanning).

Testing & Quality Engineering

  • Implement comprehensive unit, integration, system, and security tests.
  • Build automated validation pipelines including SAST, DAST, dependency, and container image scanning.
  • Support system and penetration testing efforts; analyze results and drive remediation.
  • Promote engineering discipline around versioning, backward compatibility, release stability, and vulnerability management.
  • Ensure security validation is embedded into CI/CD quality gates.

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

  • Create infrastructure automation frameworks for provisioning, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
  • Develop tooling that transforms hardware/software configuration inputs into validated, compliant runtime configurations.
  • Automate air-gapped image distribution strategies with integrity verification and secure OCI registry integration.
  • Implement secure configuration, key, and secret management mechanisms.
  • Embed infrastructure security controls such as identity federation, least-privilege access, and network segmentation.

Security Engineering Responsibilities

  • Integrate secure SDLC practices across design, development, testing, and release.
  • Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for platform and application architectures.
  • Implement Zero Trust principles across service communication and platform access.
  • Define and enforce identity, authentication, and authorization frameworks.
  • Drive container, Kubernetes, and runtime workload security standards.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory security requirements.
  • Partner with Security teams on vulnerability management, incident response, and remediation strategies.

Technical Leadership

  • Own complex software subsystems end-to-end from design through secure production operation.
  • Mentor engineers in software craftsmanship, distributed systems design, cloud-native development, and secure coding practices.
  • Establish engineering standards for code quality, security, maintainability, and long-term sustainability.
  • Drive cross-team technical and security alignment; reduce architectural and control fragmentation.
  • Champion a security-first engineering culture.

The salary range of $138,000 – $231,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
