What You'll Get To Do:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead growth initiatives in the e-bike segment. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and driving revenue through innovative market strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the e-bike industry and a proven track record in business development and sales.

Business Development and New/Repurpose Product Development & Promotion

  • Engages in and facilitates new business development with OEM’s in electric pedal assist bicycle industry, power sports, medium and heavy truck, and construction/agriculture segments
  • Manage existing accounts
  • Collaborate with Advanced Engineering team to develop and execute product strategies to extend our current product portfolio
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Program Management to determine opportunities to repurpose existing products to new customers and segments
  • Collaborate with the overseas (Japan) bicycle factory and customers to develop new business opportunities and help establish and maintain roadmaps for electric bicycle powertrains and connectivity
  • Lead special projects as needed

Industry Shows, Conferences & Events

  • Determine what key shows, conferences and events the team should participate in as well as develop proper messaging at each event.
  • Develop and track all expenses. Provide expense budget and receive approval prior to commitment
  • Coordinate all planning and logistical details including set-up and teardown

Presentation Development, Sales Forecasting, Planning and Reporting

  • Create new product and technology introductions, identifies prospects for new business, tailor presentations to customer needs, relating product to their business strategies.
  • Make formal presentations to all customer levels including upper management.
  • Provide short, mid and long-term sales/demand and spend forecasting, for sales and production planning purposes monthly/annually, on a consistent basis
  • Support sample development and shipment
  • Provides factory teams with new product, related technology and market trends. Share available market research data

Customer and Factory Relationship Management

  • Effectively/professionally collaborate with all levels of factory personnel to assure customer requirements are being met
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers
  • Identify prospects for new and replacement business
  • Identify any gaps in customer needs versus our offerings, and determine solutions
  • Understand our competition and their strengths and weaknesses as it relates to customer needs and satisfaction. Present current and projected market conditions to factory personnel and management team on a regular basis

  • Reports to PCEC Group Manager Sales Planning and Administration.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development or sales
  • 3+ years of specific experience in the e-bike / specialty vehicle segment
    • (Bicycle, eBike, Power Sports, Medium & Heavy Truck, Con/Ag)
  • Strong knowledge of e-bike technology and market dynamics.

Problem Solving:

  • Strong Presentation, Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Ability to assess, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to lead projects independently
  • Strong Project Management Skills

Communications:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills including the ability to create and present major presentations to high-level internal and external contacts is required
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Effectively coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, displaying strong self-motivation
  • Excellent Organization Skills for multi-tasking
  • Understanding on how to work closely with overseas factories and business contacts on a continuous basis
  • Strong computer skills required including advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and other CRM or Project Management Tools
  • Ability to manage business expenses within agreed upon Business Plan levels.

The wage range of $150,000 - $160,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives.
