Responsibilities
The Position:
Serves as the primary lead for Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) and Project Portfolio Management (PPM), supporting the company’s strategic planning, portfolio prioritization, investment allocation, and decision-support processes through effective use of enterprise SPM/PPM processes and tools. This strategic business role represents the company’s broader enterprise portfolio and planning needs and works closely with Product Line Management (PLM), Program Management (PMO), Business Units (BU), Engineering (GTO), Sales (GSO), Finance (FIN), and Information Technology (IT) to drive planning alignment and improve decision-making effectiveness across product portfolio planning, prioritization, funding, execution tracking, and decision support. The role drives portfolio planning process design, decision framework definition, governance alignment, and the enabling capabilities supported by SPM/PPM tools (e.g., Broadcom Clarity), and helps improve planning discipline, decision quality, and cross-functional alignment. The role also supports evaluation of portfolio priorities, funding options, resource constraints, and trade-offs across initiatives to help ensure decisions align with corporate strategy, market demand, customer commitments, financial objectives, technology roadmaps, and broader enterprise value objectives. The role contributes to the strategic mid-term planning (MTP) process by providing recommendations and decision support for product portfolio management, prioritization, and investment allocation in support of company commitments and long-term enterprise value. The role also advances related planning, governance, and enterprise decision-support initiatives.
Strategic Portfolio Planning and Decision Support (30%)
- Support the development and continuous improvement of SPM/PPM planning processes, governance mechanisms, and decision-support capabilities within the company’s enterprise PPM platform environment.
- Represent company-level strategic planning and portfolio management needs in cross-functional platform discussions, including governance, design, enhancement, release, and adoption decisions.
- Lead planning and process alignment activities on behalf of the business, including requirements definition, adoption planning, and stakeholder readiness.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and implementation partners to align platform capabilities, workflows, and integrations to agreed business processes and decision-support needs.
- Identify, recommend, and prioritize portfolio planning process improvements and enabling capability enhancement needs that balance usability, governance, and long-term strategy and scalability.
Portfolio Prioritization, Investment Planning, and Strategic Decision Support (25%)
- Drive data-informed decisions on prioritization, funding, risk management, and lifecycle planning across complex product portfolios, including evaluation of strategic fit, trade-offs, dependencies, and opportunity costs.
- Contribute to the strategic mid-term planning (MTP) process by providing recommendations and decision support for product portfolio management, prioritization, and investment allocation.
- Research and recommend product prioritization methodology and criteria to maximize ROI and diversify risks by integrating strategic fit, commercial outcomes, financial attractiveness, product interdependencies, capacity constraints, and portfolio trade-offs.
- Translate portfolio planning, resource planning, financial planning, and governance needs into clear workflows, roles, and decision points that are supported by appropriate planning processes and tools.
- Help design and mature intake, prioritization, planning, and governance processes, using Clarity PPM and related enterprise planning capabilities as enabling tools in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Partner with PMO, finance, business, and delivery stakeholders to align planning and reporting practices where appropriate, and to support portfolio trade-off discussions involving funding, capacity, timing, and strategic alignment.
- Support mixed delivery models, including agile and waterfall, within a coherent portfolio framework.
- Help define and reinforce operating cadence, decision forums, and escalation paths needed for effective portfolio execution and decision-making.
- Ensure portfolio alignment with corporate strategy, market demand, customer commitments, and technology roadmaps, and help translate those priorities into portfolio criteria, planning assumptions, and governance mechanisms.
Portfolio Governance, Data Integrity, and Change Enablement (20%)
- Help establish and maintain governance for planning processes, data standards, access, change control, and supporting platform capabilities in partnership with relevant platform owners and stakeholders.
- Define and reinforce business stakeholder data ownership and stewardship expectations to improve the quality and reliability of portfolio, resource, and delivery data.
- Establish recurring operating rhythms and controls that support data quality, process consistency, and planning discipline.
- Lead business-facing change management and adoption efforts through stakeholder engagement, training, enablement materials, and clear usage expectations.
- Build internal capability within the business to use and continuously improve platform-supported processes over time, reducing long-term dependence on external support.
Portfolio Reporting, Insights, and Executive Decision Support (15%)
- Partner with leadership to define the portfolio, resource, and investment insights needed to support planning, prioritization, and investment decisions.
- Develop and maintain portfolio reporting, dashboards, and decision-support views that help leadership evaluate priorities, trade-offs, resource constraints, and investment options across the business.
- Improve transparency into portfolio health, capacity constraints, delivery confidence, and alignment to strategic priorities to support informed leadership decision-making.
- Help drive consistent use of portfolio data in planning and governance discussions.
- Identify reporting gaps, metric inconsistencies, and manual workarounds, and recommend practical improvements.
Strategic Initiatives and Continuous Improvement (10%)
- Support related cross-functional initiatives tied to planning, governance, operating cadence, and enterprise decision support.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual reporting, and improve cross-functional alignment.
- Support phased rollout and process maturity efforts as the platform and operating model evolve.
- Contribute to cross-cutting improvements that span planning, governance, reporting, and operating cadence, especially where coordination across functions is required.
