Design Director

About R/GA

R/GA is a global digital innovation agency specializing in digital product development, brand transformation, media, and communications for major companies. We are on a mission to help companies grow by enabling them to change, across their business, the experience they offer and the campaigns that take them to market.

Our work tends to be a fusion of what we call Stories and Systems: the narrative and the design, technology and the interface working together. R/GA is a brand but it's also a collective of atypical outsiders and misfits who drive everything we do through bold creativity and bright, strategic thinking.

About the role

Our Design Directors are makers and storytellers that use design to bring ideas to life. They lead projects into uncharted creative territories without blinking. They’re design fundamentalists, but approach projects with rational and innovative mindsets. They extend visual language, always mindful of how it looks and how it works.

This particular opening is to join the Product & Experience discipline at R/GA, playing an integral role within our Google team. Here, you’ll help lead design and designers to create and maintain Google products. This includes everything from branded Figma component libraries, to bespoke page experiences, as well as thought leadership. This person will work closely within our team, while also being a design liaison with our core Google clients.

Here’s what you should know if you want to be a Design Director on G-Team at R/GA:

On any given day you might

  • Execute top quality design work in line with agency standards.
  • Manage the quality of design throughout all phases of a project.
  • Mentor and manage Designers and Junior Designers.
  • Participate constructively in inter-department and cross-service line communications.
  • Work with Creative Directors to ensure design work exceeds client expectations.

  • Help to lead the creation and definition of flexible design systems and visual languages.
  • Design and iterate on user interfaces and experiences for websites, landing pages, microsites, digital products, and mobile apps.
  • Collaborate across teams to build scalable, attainable solutions.
  • Prototype interactive experiences that engage users and drive conversion.

The ideal person

  • Is a designer at heart, with a passion for growing and galvanizing teams of creatives.
  • Has knowledge of visual, interactive and motion design best practices, and is fluent in simple executions that make big statements.
  • Is both a hands-on Designer and a natural leader.
