What is the Opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets is seeking an experienced data and operations leader to join our Reconciliation Data Services team as Associate Director. This role is part of a cohesive group responsible for the governance, enablement, and optimization of RBC's Capital Markets reconciliation ecosystem. You will own the oversight and governance of exception handling tooling, metrics and data insights, partnering across Operations, Technology, and Data teams to ensure exception handling platform and related data processes support efficient, accurate and scalable outcomes across the Capital Markets lifecycle.

What Will You Do?

  • Lead governance for exception handling tools, metrics, and data oversight across the Capital Markets reconciliation ecosystem

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align data sourcing, tooling functionality, and operational governance frameworks

  • Own the end-to-end metric framework for exception handling health, including data quality, control effectiveness, and operational performance

  • Identify and monitor systemic data or process issues impacting reconciliation accuracy or timeliness, drive root cause analysis and sustainable remediation

  • Define and maintain business requirements for exception handling engine and exception handling tools, ensuring continuous improvement and scalability

  • Provide thought leadership on data optimization, process automation, and operational efficiency opportunities

  • Drive strategic initiatives to enhance exception handling platforms and promote operational excellence

What Do You Need to Succeed?

Must-Have

  • Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle and Capital Markets products (Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Derivatives, etc.)

  • Background in strategic planning and operational transformation projects

  • Proven experience in data management, governance, or tooling oversight within financial services

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to identify, investigate, and resolve systemic issues

  • Ability to interpret and translate operational requirements into actionable data and technology enhancements

  • Strategic thinking capabilities with experience in leading cross-functional initiatives

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with exception management platforms and operational control environments

  • Familiarity with Capital Markets data architecture, lineage, and governance frameworks

  • Exposure to process automation, data visualization, or advanced analytics initiatives

  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence concepts, tools, or applications, including their use in automation, exception handling, or data optimization within financial services
