What is the opportunity?

Purpose

  • Lead and manage overall execution of the Business & Client Services (BCS) Funding & Liquidity change portfolio

  • Oversee projects to successful completion by resourcing and providing guidance to staff where necessary

  • Integrate new processes, products, and businesses into the BCS platform

What will you do?

Primary Responsibilities

Portfolio and Project Management:

  • Oversee and guide multiple in-flight projects throughout the project lifecycle by providing direction to resources and project partners with a view to successful project execution

  • Collaborate with, and provide portfolio transparency to, BCS Funding & Liquidity stakeholders and project partners

  • Provide leadership on large-scale initiatives in a Program Lead capacity where required

  • Ensure portfolio governance, from regular project calls to artefact management, is adhered to in a timely, accurate and transparent manner

  • Manage all portfolio financial governance activities in alignment with PAR and capex plans

  • Coordinate annual portfolio capex planning, including cost / benefits analysis with the broader Business Process & Digital Transformation and Business Management teams

  • Participate in and support any business unit sponsored projects that impact BCS

  • Lead functional reviews primarily focused on productivity improvements as required by individual projects or as requested by BCS management

  • Escalate roadblocks to BCS management as required

  • Identify process improvement / reengineering opportunities through streamlining, simplification, elimination of redundancies/overlaps, improved capacity utilization, automation, outsourcing, standardization, etc

  • Ensure effective execution of analysis and requirements gathering by team members

  • Provide input to Business Architecture decisions and process

  • Represent PCM in joint CM / WM / IT committees

  • Assist in the procurement of consultant support including documenting SOW deliverables

  • Assist the Global Head of Portfolio & Change Management, in management responsibilities for the department

Management of Project Resources:

  • Add talented project resources as project demand dictates, maintaining appropriate mix of FTE and contractors, PMs / BAs in doing so cultivating and maintaining an effective and motivated change delivery team

  • Assign staff to initiatives in alignment with business priorities and financial plans to ensure successful project execution

  • Develop skills and competencies of staff by utilizing training programs pertaining to requirements gathering, use case preparation, UAT activities and the RBC Project Management Framework

  • Provide coaching and direction to staff for project related work; identify and foster development opportunities for their professional growth

  • Ensure monthly financial recovery of staff time via MIS or similar tools

Relationship Management:

  • In conjunction with BCS management, liaise with businesses, technology and other project partners on Capital Markets and Business Unit initiatives that impact BCS

What you need to succeed?

Qualifications

Must have:

  • Significant project management-related experience e.g. Portfolio Manager, Program Lead, Project Manager

  • Proven people management & development skills; ability to work effectively in a project team environment, demonstrated facilitation and leadership skills, strong listening and interview skills

  • Capable of building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders across the enterprise

  • Good working knowledge of Capital Markets operational functions and processes

  • Detailed understanding of the fundamentals of Capital Markets trading and the transaction lifecycle

  • Familiarity with regional differences in operational processing within RBC Capital Markets

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and within a team

  • Ability to prioritize, plan and execute work to meet tight deadlines

  • Strong innovative, problem-solving, and analytical skills; a self-starter capable of functioning in an autonomous manner

  • Provide concise and effective updates to the Global Head of Portfolio & Change Management and project partners

Nice to have:

  • Capital Markets operations experience, ideally in funding, liquidity, collateral, margin and cash management activities

  • Understanding of RBC Capital Markets organizational structure - front office sales and trading, middle office, product control, BCS, regulatory/compliance, etc.
