Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Capital Markets’ Architecture and Data Services team at RBC is seeking an Associate Director, Project Manager role. The central architecture team is not aligned to a specific domain within markets; rather, it supports the entire department. In this role, you will help drive project management, primarily supporting the engineering team within the architecture group. The role involves working closely with business and technology stakeholders, and internal enterprise partners. This role based in Halifax reporting into the Lead Technical Architect, and involves working closely with teams in New York, Toronto, and London.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with the wider architecture team and wider organization to understand engineering needs that align with the QTS Architecture team’s commercial deliverable goals.

  • Manage, project plan, create project progress and roadmap – based on QTS’ priorities, design and technical standards.

  • Identify and unblock issues that may impact project progress, timelines, reporting and communications

  • Develop regular status reports, KPIs and architecture update presentations for various stakeholder audiences

  • Prepare minutes, meeting agenda & materials, including reporting on scorecards/KPIs

  • Assist in knowledge management approach & communications for architecture details including architecture diagrams, technology inventory, standards & patterns.

  • Ensure engineering information flows effectively among working groups, steering committees, executive and domain experts, includes managing project documentation on confluence/SharePoint sites

  • Assist with internal communication materials and presentations, such as Town Halls & newsletters

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.

  • Strong organizational, project management and time management capabilities.

  • A strong understanding of technology and financial services industry.

  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Aptitude to build domain knowledge and management skillset; demonstrated ability to foster strong working relationships across functional teams and acting with diplomacy.

Nice-to-have

  • Background in software engineering or working closely with engineering teams

  • Experience with agile methodologies – SCRUM

  • Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly traded corporation

  • Ability to facilitate meetings with key decision makers

  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses

  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
