What is the opportunity?
Join RBC Capital Markets’ AI & Digital Engineering team as a Junior AI Engineer and contribute to shaping the strategic direction of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. In this dynamic, hands-on role, you’ll support innovation across global financial markets, collaborate with high-performing teams, and gain exposure to executive stakeholders.
What will you do?
- Assist in designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML models to solve business challenges in financial markets, including tasks like data preprocessing, model training, validation, and monitoring.
- Work closely with senior engineers and business stakeholders to integrate AI capabilities into existing systems and workflows.
- Contribute to proof-of-concept projects and rapid prototyping to explore emerging technologies (e.g., Generative AI, blockchain).
- Support documentation, testing, and performance tuning of AI models to ensure scalability, robustness, and compliance with financial industry standards.
- Participate in team discussions to refine AI strategies, ensuring solutions align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, share insights, and propose improvements to enhance the team’s AI capabilities.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related Quantitative field
- 3 – 8 Years of coding in Python; include experience with libraries like Pandas or NumPy for data manipulation and visualization
- Familiarity with building and training machine learning models (e.g., regression, classification, clustering) using frameworks like Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
- Exposure to natural language processing (NLP) concepts, such as text preprocessing, sentiment analysis, or basic chatbot implementations
- Understanding of image processing techniques (e.g., OpenCV) or document parsing (e.g., OCR tools) for tasks like data extraction
- Awareness of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their AI/ML services
Nice-to-have
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related Quantitative field
- Familiarity with Blockchain, AWS SageMaker or Azure ML
- Exposure to the Financial Industry or background in applying AI/ML for financial uses cases such as forecasting or fraud detection

Compensation for this position (including salary and discretionary/variable payments) will be determined by factors, including but not limited to candidate's experience, skills, registration status, performance, individual goals, market conditions, and business needs.
Pay Range
The expected pay range for this position is:
$90,000.00 - $135,000.00The pay range provided is for the primary work location referenced in the Additional Job Details section of this job posting. Pay ranges may differ based on location. If the posting lists multiple job locations, a recruiter can confirm availability of the role and the relevant pay rage for the additional locations listed.
