What is the opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets Technology is seeking a versatile and cross functional Senior Quality Engineer to join our team. This role requires expertise across multiple testing domains including functional, automation, performance, and security testing for our Capital Markets applications. The ideal candidate will bring a diverse skillset to ensure comprehensive quality assurance across our technology stack while meeting stringent regulatory requirements, with strong emphasis on test data management and cross-team collaboration and attention to details

What will you do?

• Develop and implement holistic test strategies covering functional, API, UI, performance, and security testing

• Design and build scalable test automation frameworks for web, API, and backend systems using Python, Java, and Robot Framework

• Design and implement test data strategies, including creation of test data beds that accurately represent production scenarios

• Select, implement, and manage test data tools for data generation, masking, subsetting, and synthetic data creation

• Ensure applications meet financial industry regulatory requirements through thorough testing protocols

• Create and execute test scenarios using Oracle SQL to validate data integrity and application functionality

• Conduct load, stress, and performance testing using tools like LoadRunner and JMeter

• Test applications deployed in cloud environments, ensuring security, performance, and reliability

• Lead testing efforts during complex data migrations, ensuring data integrity and application functionality

• Design and execute comprehensive integration test plans for interconnected financial systems

• Embed quality practices throughout the development pipeline by integrating automated tests into CI/CD workflows

• Work effectively across multiple teams including development, operations, business analysts, and product owners

• Collaborate on security testing initiatives to identify and address vulnerabilities

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to QA team members

• Implement AI/ML technologies to improve test efficiency, coverage, and predictive quality analysis

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• 8+ years of experience in software testing across multiple domains

• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, and Unix shell scripting

• Experience designing comprehensive test data strategies and test data beds

• Experience with Oracle SQL for database testing and data validation

• Proven experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks

• Knowledge of financial services regulatory requirements (FRTB, MiFID II, Dodd-Frank, etc.)

• Experience with test management tools like JIRA and Qtest

• Proficiency in performance testing methodologies and tools

• Experience testing applications in cloud environments

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple functional teams

• Understanding of data migration testing methodologies

Nice-to-have

• Experience working in Capital Markets or Investment Banking

• Expertise with test data management tools and synthetic data generation

• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Familiarity with BDD testing approaches using Gherkin

• Experience with security testing tools and methodologies

• Understanding of DevSecOps principles and practices

• Knowledge of machine learning testing approaches

• Experience with microservices architecture testing

• Experience facilitating test planning and strategy sessions with cross-functional teams
