What is the opportunity?
We are seeking a CMBS Trader to actively support (build, manage and survey) the Principal Finance Group Portfolio in the Bahamas, consisting of Securitized products (CMBS).
What will you do?
- Demonstrate product expertise to identify opportunities and to analyse credit on commercial mortgage-backed securities for the Principal Finance Group portfolio.
- Cultivate counterparty relationships in securitized products.
- Be constantly aware of trading levels on all sectors of the portfolio; remain vigilant with respect to macro issues to spot trends in the Commercial Loan market that may have an impact on the portfolio or portfolio strategy.
- Keep abreast of developments in the US Commercial Loan market that may produce opportunities to increase profitability or add to existing businesses.
- Review new and updated Firm Policies applicable to the business and portfolio management activities.
- Identify, assess and manage operational risks/controls deficiencies in the business.
- Work with PFG team to construct investment letters, management presentations, and board level presentations.
- Develop, manage and enhance existing front office portfolio analytics framework.
- Monitor and improve process for front office P&L calculations and attribution.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Mathematic, Economics, or other highly quantitative field.
- Strong knowledge of RBC, Commercial Mortgage Business, Financial Industry and Bank Regulatory framework.
- Minimum of 10 years of proven and successful experience in Securitized Products as a Trader, Portfolio Manager, Structurer, or Trading desk Analyst – with focus in commercial mortgage-backed securities.
- Well versed in review and understanding of securitized products deal documents and security structures and collateral analysis.
- Familiar with all types of CMBS bonds and should be willing and able to increase knowledge as new products are introduced to the market.
- Exceptional quantitative, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to work independently, under strict time deadlines with attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of Bloomberg, IntexCalc, Trepp, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Nice to Have
- Demonstrated technical acumen with MS Excel/VBA, or other programming languages, SQL, statistical programming languages, and/ or data visualization.
- Experience with Polypaths.
