Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Associate Director of Asset Servicing is responsible for:

  • The role assumes responsibility for all FIC & Cash Equity Asset Servicing control functions (including responsibilities of oversite of relevant activities performed on behalf of RBC EG, including , but not limited to, Operational procedures, Issue management and escalation of in scope matters requiring management engagement). To manage and lead Asset Servicing in London, ensuring the department runs efficiently in a controlled manner.
  • Drive continuous change and improvement keeping all areas of responsibility abreast of regulatory, compliance and business led initiatives.
  • Aligned to BCS Market Business Services (EMEA) from a functional perspective, and aligned to Capital Markets FIC and Equities from a regional service provision perspective.
  • Ensure that each support group is leveraging existing technology, coordinates enhancements to improve working processes and works closely with the front office business heads and local operations heads to advise and implement new business initiatives in line with business plans.
  • To ensure accurate and timely deal processing and settlement, mark to market exposure, monitoring payments, confirmations and regulatory reporting; all completed in accordance with Standing Orders and Unit Financial Control requirements.

What will you do?

Management & Strategy

  • Demonstrates financial accountability to Head of Asset Servicing, Trade & Sales Support EMEA & APAC
  • Maintains regional focus while supporting global GMTS strategy
  • Participates in industry forums to identify regional trends and best practices
  • Partners with businesses and functions to ensure clear process ownership
  • Monitors service quality for internal and external clients
  • Collaborates with front office to meet current and future business requirements
  • Develops product knowledge to minimize operational and settlement risks

Control & Compliance

  • Implements effective audit controls in accordance with regulations
  • Ensures departmental adherence to standing orders and operational procedures
  • Prevents, detects, and eliminates potential risks and liabilities
  • Develops and maintains procedures supporting regulatory and CASS requirements
  • Ensures sufficient controls for reportee attestations per global RBC policy
  • Verifies Certified Persons remain fit, proper, and competent
  • Oversees accurate manual payment release and payment standing order compliance
  • Monitors daily data gathering for Fixed Income and Equity custody clients
  • Conducts month-end data verification with supporting evidence and escalates issues
  • Manages projects requiring specialized business and operational knowledge

People Leadership

  • Selects and builds high-performing teams
  • Establishes vision and performance-driven goals for FIC & Cash Equity Asset Servicing
  • Conducts formal mid-year and year-end performance appraisals with continuous feedback
  • Supports career development and rewards strong performance
  • Ensures staff awareness of mandates and compliance with Standing Orders
  • Communicates support for management decisions during organizational change
  • Operates independently with escalation of unusual matters
  • Approves write-offs to agreed levels, reviews departmental expenses, and recommends promotions
  • Serves as authorized signatory for RBC and RBC Europe Limited

Education & Experience

  • Educated to at least A-Level standard
  • Proven management experience 8-10++ years
  • Extensive settlement and asset servicing experience in Fixed Income and Equity products
  • Experienced in managing people

  • Solid knowledge of Equity and Fixed Income products with emphasis on operational processes and controls

  • Strong knowledge of Asset Servicing and potential impacts of operational failures.
