Job Description

What is the opportunity?

RBC is seeking an experienced Managing Director to lead enterprise-wide platform strategy and execution across our POD-based operating model. You will serve as the executive champion responsible for translating corporate strategic priorities into platform investment decisions, driving measurable shareholder value, and ensuring architectural integrity across the organization. This is a high-impact role that bridges the C-Suite, the Board, and execution teams—positioning you to shape how RBC delivers technology-enabled competitive advantage at enterprise scale. You will own capital allocation decisions, establish governance frameworks, manage executive stakeholder relationships, and ensure our platforms remain compliant, scalable, and operationally excellent.

What will you do?

  • Define multi-year platform vision and strategy aligned with corporate objectives, presenting investment theses and performance updates to the Operating Committee and Board
  • Partner with CFO and Investment Committee leadership to secure, allocate, and optimize platform funding; conduct rigorous ROI tracking and benefit realization across multi-year cycles
  • Establish clear accountability frameworks for POD leadership, manage portfolio-level trade-offs, and intervene when execution discipline or agile maturity falls below expectations
  • Serve as primary executive interface to the C-Suite, Board, and key enterprise stakeholders; translate technical complexity into clear business narratives
  • Set and enforce enterprise architecture standards across all PODs, champion platform coherence, and guide modernization roadmaps in partnership with the Chief Technology Officer
  • Ensure all platform initiatives comply with regulatory requirements and enterprise risk policies; partner with Chief Risk Officer and Compliance leadership on design reviews and control testing
  • Establish operational readiness standards, monitor KPIs at the executive level (availability, reliability, incident rates), and own post-launch optimization cycles
  • Build and maintain executive sponsor coalitions, influence cross-functional C-Suite partners, and escalate material risks to appropriate governance bodies

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in platform strategy, product governance, or enterprise transformation at the director or executive level
  • Demonstrated financial acumen including P&L management, capital allocation, and value-based investment frameworks
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional teams across large, matrixed financial services organizations without direct authority
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence C-Suite and Board-level stakeholders
  • Regulatory and compliance acumen within financial services

Nice-to-have

  • Experience operating within agile, product, or POD-based organizational models
  • Track record of building and scaling platforms that delivered measurable shareholder value
  • Prior experience in enterprise architecture governance or technology modernization at scale
  • Board-level exposure or presentation experience

What's in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including competitive compensation and flexible benefits, such as 401(k) program with company-matching contributions, health, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, and paid-time off
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact on enterprise strategy and execution
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing leadership team
  • Opportunities to do challenging work at the executive level with visibility across the organization
  • Opportunities to build close relationships with C-Suite leaders, the Board, and key business stakeholders

The expected salary range for this particular position is $300,000–$400,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions, and business needs.

You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program, which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.

RBC's compensation philosophy and principles recognize the importance of a highly qualified global workforce and plays a critical role in attracting, engaging, and retaining talent that drives RBC's high-performance culture, enables collective achievement of our strategic goals, and generates sustainable shareholder returns and above-market shareholder value.
