Director of Digital Ads and Monetization

We’re looking to hire a sales-oriented GM of Redfin’s digital ads and monetization businesses. Growing these high-margin revenue channels is fundamental to Redfin’s long-term success, making Redfin significantly more profitable and also more resilient to the natural ups and downs of the real estate market. And more importantly, it’s a way to provide value to the tens of millions of monthly unique visitors to our site and apps who aren’t going to buy-or-sell a home with us right now, or maybe ever.
We’re searching for a leader with the entrepreneurial energy and operational capability to take our digital ad and monetization businesses from 10’s of millions to 100’s of millions in revenues over the next five years while delivering on Redfin’s mission to redefine real estate in the consumer’s favor. You’ll be successful by not only driving financial results, but improving the Redfin customer experience for the ocean of users of Redfin.com who don’t work with a Redfin agent.
This role will be based in Seattle, Washington. Candidates are expected to travel to Seattle HQ and to local markets as needed, but not more than 20% of the time. Relocation is available.
This position is a general management role. You’ll have P&L responsibility for our digital ad business and be responsible for setting the strategy, and executing it, over the next five years. You’ll lead a small, but exceptional, team of professionals and work hand-in-hand with world-class partners across technology & development, marketing and finance to build the business.

Beyond Display Advertising
There are many pixels to monetize on Redfin.com and our mobile apps, but we want a leader who thinks beyond traditional display advertising to develop advertising offerings and channels that are valuable to both consumers and advertisers. Whether it’s a new marketplace for home insurance, home warranties, or moving and storage, we can offer our advertising partners more value as we simplify and streamline the process of moving from one home to the next. For every new vertical, you’ll be starting with the 10s of millions of monthly visitors to Redfin.com so you can build for scale without having the cost of customer acquisition.
Who You Are

Experience with two-sided digital marketplaces: you have experience driving demand, building supply and optimizing monetization in a two-sided digital marketplace that has reached 10’s of millions of dollars in revenue with year-over-year growth north of 25% and high contributing margins.
Builder AND Doer: you have 10+ years experience building and leading successful P&Ls and you love to do the work.
Financial savvy: you can turn a P&L inside out and have a data-driven methodology for growing revenue and profits. You know how to ask the right questions to dig a level deeper when something doesn’t look quite right.
Entrepreneurial: we’re looking for someone to conquer new territory, not to mind the store. You’re responsible for setting the strategy to grow the business and working with our technology team to give us a competitive advantage.

What You’ll Do: Build the Finest Advertising Network in Real Estate
Your role will be to take our nascent digital ads business and turn it into the finest digital ad marketplace in real estate. Take charge of the P&L accountability for our digital advertising, monetization, and WalkScore businesses. You’ll be responsible for driving their financial performance and ensuring they contribute to Redfin’s overall profitability, as well as owning the roadmap for the monetization product & engineering team. Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
lead the ad network’s performance, quality, and operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day sales and operations.
designing and implementing a full suite of digital advertising solutions that can deliver profitable, relevant ad campaigns while maintaining the SEO power and consumer draw of Redfin.com
lead media sales, working closely with advertisers to deliver compelling ad placements that effectively target and engage Redfin’s audience.
sign and manage partnerships with service providers in the real estate industry, enhancing the Redfin user experience and generating profitable revenue streams.
Experience driving a fast-growing, digital P&L of greater than $10 million
Demonstrated success leading a go-to-market strategy with responsibility for sales, partnerships, tech roadmap, and network oversight and optimization
Selfless ad sales skills, with the ability to conceive and design new placements, articulate the value to advertising partners, and build new channels and advertising partnerships
Experience building and running a profitable digital ad business, ideally at an operating company with multiple revenue streams
Familiar with all areas of digital advertising, business development, and channel partnerships

The compensation information below is provided in compliance with job posting disclosure requirements in Colorado, New York, New Jersey, Washington, and California.Base Pay Range: $166,000.00 - 248,500.00. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operational business needs. Compensation will also include bonuses and equity, as well as the potential for future merit increases and stock grants based on performance.
