Lead/Principal Android Engineer - Mobile SDK

Position Overview:
Salesforce, a global leader in cross-channel digital marketing solutions, is expanding our Mobile Messaging team with the addition of an experienced Lead or Principal Android Engineer. Our suite, featuring MobilePush, GroupConnect, and MobileConnect integrates with our comprehensive marketing tools, Content Builder, and Journey Builder. We're looking for a visionary engineer to propel our Marketing Cloud MobilePush SDKs and deliver unmatched technology to our clients.
Role Snapshot:
As a Lead/Principal Android Engineer at Salesforce Mobile Messaging, you will take charge of an agile team, shaping the future of mobile messaging at scale. Your mastery of Java, Kotlin, and the Android ecosystem will drive the development and maintenance of our products, ensuring they are robust, efficient, and at the forefront of innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and develop cutting-edge features for our mobile messaging SDKs, delivering scalable and reliable solutions that enhance our vast marketing suite.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine project scopes, translating intricate requirements into actionable development strategies.
- Champion performance optimization for Android applications, elevating the user experience on a diverse array of devices.
- Uphold and advance coding excellence, implementing best practices and fostering a culture of quality software development.
- Lead the charge in staying ahead of the curve within the Android landscape, integrating new technologies and methodologies to keep our products pioneering.
- Mentor and inspire team members through code reviews and dedicated sessions, cultivating a high-caliber engineering team.
- Embrace our CI/CD pipelines, automating the development lifecycle to streamline deployment and integration.
- Design and advocate for sophisticated test strategies, pioneering automation frameworks, and enhancing code coverage and metrics.
- Engage with mobile developers utilizing our SDKs, delivering tailored, mobile-first solutions that cater to their unique needs.
Your Impact:
- Spearhead the architectural design and implementation of our products, ensuring they are scalable, stable, and capable of revolutionizing the digital marketing domain.
- Navigate and refine our development culture and codebase, leading by example and fostering continuous improvement.
- Commit to hands-on quality assurance, guiding the team in maintaining the integrity of code through rigorous design and execution standards.
- Synchronize efforts with product managers, UX experts, and performance engineers to craft features that resonate with customers while sustaining platform reliability.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience (10+ years) in mobile development.
- Proven expertise in Java, Kotlin, and Android development paradigms.
- Strong problem-solving skills coupled with a methodical approach to tackling complex challenges.
- Effective communication abilities and a collaborative spirit.
- Demonstrated initiative to innovate and drive technical enhancements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive professional experience matched to the job grade.
- Proven track record of building highly scalable mobile applications.
- Proficiency with Docker and consuming public RESTful APIs.
- Solid experience with CI/CD pipeline deployment and automated testing.
- Experience delivering Android apps to the Google Play Store or through enterprise distribution.
- Familiarity with location services, notifications, iBeacons, and cutting-edge mobile technologies.
- Bonus points for experience with React Native, Cordova, or other hybrid app development platforms.
