About Salesforce

We’re Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI+ Data +CRM. Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too — driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world. If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good – you’ve come to the right place.

Platform Abuse Analyst

We are looking for a Platform Abuse Analyst who is dedicated to identifying abusers who commit fraud and/or leverage our services to make the Internet a hostile space. You are the right person for this job if you understand spamming, phishing, and a plethora of other inappropriate ways that Internet Threat Actors will take advantage. You don’t want to play whack-a-mole; you want to innovate and find ways to automate tedious work away. You are comfortable with responding to third-party reports of abuse, and know that progress itself is more important than perfection. We are a geographically distributed team and looking for our next team member to join us in this fast-paced environment.

At our core, the Platform Defense and Safety team works to detect and respond to malicious user activity (misuse, abuse, etc) when everything is working “as designed”. At any moment in time, multiple actors are attempting to bypass detection and response systems, masquerading as customers in order to take unfair advantage of our systems and services. Different from the full compromise scenarios we know and love, abuse is a slow simmering burn, where some of our users can become a problem.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a public face of anti-abuse at Salesforce

  • Review, triage, investigate and respond to detections of abuse impacting Salesforce SaaS Products, such as Marketing Cloud

  • Partner across Salesforce product teams to manage third-party report escalations, and periodically respond after-hours as business needs dictate

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the types of threats (and threat actors) operating in the realm of abuse across the Internet – especially those that intentionally blend in and manage to take advantage of systems working “as designed”

  • Identify, articulate and document anti-abuse detection and response tooling innovation opportunities

  • Keep abreast of emerging trends in digital crime and fraud

  • Contribute to team playbooks and documentation

  • Work collaboratively across diverse teams to meet organizational goals

  • Capable of thoughtful and deliberate action in a stressful crisis situation

Minimum Requirements:

  • 6+ years working experience on Information Security and/or Trust & Safety teams to combat platform abuse

  • Proficient at investigating reports of email spam and phishing, to include email header analysis

  • Experience leveraging various Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) tools as part of investigations

  • 1 year experience in any customer facing role (Support, Sales Engineering, etc.)

  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and casework (e.g. Jira, Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate exclusively using team messaging and video platforms; accountable for work as part of a geographically dispersed team

Preferred Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience analyzing log data using a Security Incident Event Management (SIEM) and/or Log Analysis platform such as Splunk

  • Experience using various Salesforce products is a plus (but not required)

  • Comfortable using SQL

  • Comfortable using Splunk for investigations

  • Familiarity with response adherence to various compliance mandates, such as the US CAN-SPAM Act, India’s Information Technology Act 200 (Section 70B) or the European Union Digital Services Act (DSA)
