The organization is looking for a highly technical Director of Software Engineering with extensive background in distributed systems to hire and lead a team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have a track record of building teams and products from scratch, defining and influencing vision, product and execution strategy, nurturing and growing engineering talent.

This role will seed the expansion of a predominantly US-based organization into India. The Director will have a dedicated charter and will execute independently from the US teams. As such, an individual in the role will need to provide technical guidance to the team, additionally to people manager responsibilities.

• You will build and lead a team with presence in Bangalore and Hyderabad. You will recruit and retain top talent and manage the performance and career development of engineers and people leaders.
• You will integrate, build, extend, and expose Salesforce platform capabilities that enable marketers.
• You will work closely with the Product Management and senior leadership in defining and laying the future road map.
• You will Build rich experiences that scale from the smallest companies to the largest enterprises.
• You will work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.
• You will champion an atmosphere of continuous improvement by serving as a coach, mentor, and technical advisor.
• You will help your team design capabilities, services, and experiences that delight marketers.

Required Skills

• Experience leading teams building Software as a Service (Saas) applications.
• 15+ years of experience in software development.
• 6+ years of experience in a people management role.
• Experience building applications with complex service/microservice architectures and a mix of client-side and back-end technologies.
• Experience building teams and hiring ICs and managers.
• Experience with Agile software development and Test Driven Development methodologies.
• Experience in performance optimization, scalability, and algorithms
• Deep knowledge of object-oriented programming and other scripting languages. One or more of the following: Java, C#, Ruby, Go, Scala
• Ability to deliver in ambiguity and clarify product requirements and roadmap.
• Ability to quickly respond to changing business needs and roll out functionality in small increments rather than a big-bang approach
• Experience building and cultivating strong engineering practices and processes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience working in large enterprises with globally distributed engineering teams
• Experience developing on and with Salesforce Technologies
• Experience in Marketing / Advertising software.
