What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking to hire a Facilities & Engineering Project Manager within Department 4111 (Facilities Program & Division 4000 Operations) to lead the facilities project characterization process and manage strategic project and integration efforts for the Facilities Division.

This position will work closely with peers from other organizations to determine project characterizations, types, and funding eligibility for facilities projects. This position will also lead a variety of project teams to solve complex, cross-cutting, and strategic facilities project issues. In addition to the project and portfolio management duties, this role will contribute to various decisions and positions for constructing and modifying Sandia facilities.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Collaborate and bring along various stakeholders including internal Subject Matter Experts, other F&E project managers, Facilities Managers, Strategic Planners, and other external customers to translate information to make decisions on behalf of Sandia.

  • Understand various project’s technical intent and purpose and determine project types in accordance with NNSA guidelines.

  • Understand and consult on proper funding source in accordance with Sandia’s cost accounting disclosures and internal funding processes based-on project’s intent.

  • Apply technical expertise (such as engineering, architectural, space planning, and other relevant technical expertise) to help others in completing project authorizations.

  • Apply project management skills including project plan development and execution, project monitoring and control, and integrated change control for a wide variety of projects in accordance to the NA-90 Program Management Plan.

  • Be accountable for various facilities project’s alignment to NNSA facilities project requirements and primary point of contact for project characterization internally and externally.

  • Develop alternatives and recommendations for leadership of all levels that describe future strategic decisions for facilities projects.

  • Prepare and present concise and accurate reports which highlight key technical and programmatic decisions and positions that summarize information at a manageable level.

  • Be responsible for facilities and portfolio program management, developing project plans that align with strategic business goals and monitor progress against these plans.

This position does not have any direct reports.

The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Business plus five (5) years of demonstrated experience in Program/Project Management; or a Master’s degree in relevant discipline plus one (1) year of demonstrated experience in Project Management.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE L-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience with NNSA project management, preferably as a Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager, or Control Account Manager

  • Demonstrated experience in Facilities program/project management

  • Experience with managing facilities-type projects

  • Experience as a portfolio manager

  • Ability to make and recommend decisions to all-levels of the organization.

  • Excellent communicator who can articulate needs, deadlines, and risks to internal and external customers.

  • Insight into Sandia’s funding and cost structure.

About Our Team:

Department 4111 Facilities Program and Division 4000 Operations is responsible for ensuring that planned Facilities projects that Sandia intends to move forward are characterized accordingly and funded by the appropriate funds. In addition, we are responsible communication of Facilities needs to NNSA and everyday operations of Division 4000 including any strategic initiatives underway.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
