Salary Range:

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Desire:
Hands-one experience and interest in fabrication, component assembly, 3D printing and prototyping hardware.
Hobbies/interest related to automotive repair, mechanical and electrical designs, welding/fabrication, and mechanical and electrical testing.
Experience using solid modeling software.
Knowledge and experience in electric and autonomous vehicle technology.
Existing Q clearance
A member of various engineering societies.

About Our Team:
The Transportation Surety and Design Department supports the NNSA Office of Secure Transportation (OST) by conducting safety and security evaluations of OST operations, designing transportation systems and, when warranted, identifying and demonstrating technology applications to enhance OST safety and/or security posture. This team evaluates, develops, and improves a wide variety of technologies for enhancing protective force effectiveness for the DOE, DoD, and several other customers and applications.

Security Clearance:
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Qualifications We Require:
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
Earned bachelor's degree
Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited graduate program
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Advanced transporter design, sustainment, and aging
Physical security and access delay
Electrical, Communication, and Embedded systems
Environment sensor design packages and data analytics
Safety evaluations for crash/abnormal environments
Probabilistic Safety and Security Risk Assessment

On any given day, you may be called on to:
Work as part of a team to brainstorm solutions to challenging technical problems
Ensure compliance with our customer's quality requirements by developing or improving processes
Participate in planned tours, activities, and staff briefings
Apply data analytics techniques for feature extraction
Conduct analyses of safety and security assessments
Design electro-mechanical components of security systems
Develop computer models of components and structures
Support assembly and testing of components and systems
Analyze data and make assessments on requirements verification
