Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the GBS Retail and Small Business Collections ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Reporting to the MIS Manager, you will be responsible to build the architecture to deliver highly reliable MIS to drive collections strategies and actions across International Banking division.

You are an analytical individual with excellent communication skills; you possess initiative and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Accountabilities

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

• Assist with the design of applications & reports.

• Automate data collection from multiple sources / report generation process to make it faster and better.

• Design reports and scorecards to measure, analyze, improve, and control collections performance across international banking.

• Provide best-in-class scorecards to benchmark internally and externally operations and portfolio Key Performance Indicators.

• Perform analytics on Collections and Recovery trends and causes, lead MIS team to embrace the regional
“One Best Way” approach.

• Standardize reports to measure collections performance and provide operational governance.

• Identify best practices and replicate them across Collections & Recovery Hub’s.

• Ability to turn data into information, knowledge, intelligence, and wisdom that's actionable and measurable.

• Model portfolio performance and forecast delinquency & loss impact in different roll rate scenarios.

• Model and perform capacity planning for all sites and hubs.

• Ensure all COB’s are signed, acknowledged and adhered to.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Dimensions
Operates independently day to day and receives direction from the VP, Collections, and liaises with IB/Local Technology as needed. High level of autonomy required in assessing day to day issues to maximize efficiency and optimize costs.

High database programming level to deliver information through data mining in different database languages.

Ability to create easy to follow data views related to the data mining results and also for the reporting structure.

Number of countries supported: +9 countries as at Jan´24 (ScotiaGBS Hub); ScotiaGBS hub currently has ~800FTE.

Product mix: mortgages, SPLs, credit cards and small business.

Growth markets with target increase in product mix; Collections/IT project work spans cross-border operations and involves collection system migration as well as ongoing continuous improvement.


Education / Experience


The following specific skills and knowledge requirements are applicable to the job:

• English Level B1+
• Database skills using SQL Server and other programming languages are a plus.
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, and VBA is a plus.
• Working knowledge of retail credit products
• Ability to take initiative & work independently
• Strong analytical & mathematical background
• Business intelligence reporting tools i.e. SAS, Business Objects, Power BI
• A degree in statistics, computer science, commerce or related discipline
• Thorough knowledge working with catalog and pulling data from Impromptu (preferred).
• Knowledge on SAS is a plus.

Working Conditions
• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited international travel may be required.
