Role

Contributes to the overall success of CCA Technology, Payments team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the assessment of sizing and complexity of User Stories and to the solutioning of those Stories.
  • Develop User Stories to a high level of quality, including identifying error scenarios, the development of automated tests, and the review of code coverage and static code analysis reports.
  • Ensure deliverables meet architectural and coding expectations, including leveraging modern language features and functional programming coding styles.
  • Contribute to reviews of pull requests created by peers.
  • Proactively monitor application environments with available tools, create awareness in the larger team of any observed issues, and contribute to resolving those issues.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to drive modernization of technology and automation of processes, including offering ideas of solutions to these opportunities.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
  • Support to learn iSeries based microservices.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a Java Developer role;
    • 2+ years’ experience with Java8 or higher
    • 2+ years’ experience with SpringBoot
  • Expert with Postman, REST, SOAP, SQL Server and DB2 is an asset
  • Familiarity with cloud platform technologies is an asset
  • Familiarity with other technologies (such as NodeJS) is an asset
  • Familiarity with Payment and Card technologies is an asset
  • Experience in SCRUM Agile teams is an asset
  • Experience working on multiple initiatives concurrently
  • Experience working remotely in distributed project engagements
  • Experience in banking or financial industry is an asset.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or equivalent
