Purpose


Contributes to the overall success of the Innovation department in ScotiaGBS Dominican Republic and ScotiaGBS Colombia ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Identify Innovation Opportunities: Research and analyze the market, trends, customer needs and internal challenges to identify key areas where innovation can make a significant impact.
• Design innovation processes: Develop methodologies and frameworks that promote the generation of ideas, collaboration and the discovery of innovative solutions. This may include the implementation of workshops, design thinking, lean innovation or other relevant techniques.
• Evaluate and select ideas: Evaluate the ideas generated and carry out feasibility, viability and profitability analysis. Use evaluation tools and techniques to determine which ideas have the potential to become successful projects aligned with the strategic objectives of the organization.
• Implement innovation projects conceptualized and prioritized by the Innovation Committee or Director of Innovation, according to the methodology and type of project defined.
• Lead, mobilize and advise the project team on aspects related to processes, automation, digitization, and efficiency.
• Accompany partners and business functions to improve operational efficiency, reduce operational risk and cost, and optimize the way we work through the rapid deployment of innovative solutions in key processes.
• Assists the Senior Innovation Solutions Manager by participating in breakout sessions, collecting data, and conducting analysis to implement business solutions for the supported business unit or function.
• Tracking and reporting of metrics/KPIs of individual implementations at the program level.
• Responsible for coordination with designated business unit or function to support change management and communications for activities related to the Intelligent Automation program and individual implementations.
• Provide guidance and subject matter expertise for all elements of the innovation program (robotics, including RPA, RDA, and ML, among others) across GBS.
• Periodically monitor the benefits derived from the use of innovative solutions, monitor the efficiency of automated processes and the general use and optimization potential of solutions in production.
• Investigate, share, and propose world-class good practices, trends and actions to stakeholders to ensure the implemented processes are world-class and optimal.
• Responsible for defining a product’s release and iteration backlog based on product’s overall vision and input from business SMEs, stakeholders, and the agile team. Develop product roadmap and high-level backlog, further decomposed into releases which deliver significant value to the end user.
• Understand and articulate the product’s vision, including its objectives, value proposition, and key risks associated with opportunities/ideas.
• Collaborate with SMEs to assess how features will impact the end-user and how to effectively manage them.
• Act as primary reviewer of finished development work during iteration demos/reviews based on acceptance criteria.
• Responsible for Stakeholder Management and actively collaborate and engage with the agile team
• Regularly attend planning sessions, stand-ups, retrospectives, iteration reviews and other team meetings to verify that the output of the team is consistently delivering business value and aligned with the agreed upon commitments.
• Participate in iteration planning discussions to reduce ambiguity around the user stories and ensure clarity, optimize functionality and define features that align with product vision.
• Support the team by being available to provide definitions required to complete detailed user stories, whether through face-to-face meetings or suitable light-weight documentation.
• Advocate for the highest attainable levels of quality and for approaches that will minimize the impact of technical debt on the product and organization.
• Utilize SMEs – including team members – to assist in the validation of epics and user stories as well as other activities such as user experience testing.
• Prioritize backlog to ensure highest value features/epics are developed first and that all stories are aligned with and traceable to the product vision.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)


• Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent education/experience.
• 2 - 4 years of experience in survey, modeling, analysis and process design.
• Training in methodologies for the continuous improvement of processes, definition of indicators, control panels, quality and process management. With experience preferably in service companies or financial sector.
• Experience in project management and participated in projects of implementation and / or improvement of processes.
• Knowledge of innovation methodologies and techniques, such as design thinking, lean innovation, Agile, among others, will be an important differentiator.
• Demonstrates clear oral and written communication skills and able to contribute to productive discussions around features.
• Experience in the use of BPM tools, modeling tools or process documentation.
• Understanding of core banking processes and systems.
• Enthusiastic, thorough, inclusive, ability and desire to help other thrive in a dynamic team-oriented environment.
• Inquisitive mindset; eager to learn and acquire knowledge.
• Demonstrates a high level of emotional intelligence (self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, motivation, and social skills).
• Consistently seeks to understand, meet and deliver on customers’ expectations.
• Ability to research and recommend enhancements to the strategic technology evolution of the product based on new and emerging technologies and industry best practices.

• Scrum Innovation Product Owner Certification.
• Scrum Master Certification.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
• Working knowledge of Smart Automation in financial services.
• Fluency in English.
