The Manager contributes to the overall success of Total Rewards by developing and implementing effective and efficient solutions and providing expert compensation advice in delivering strategic compensation guidance to business leaders and HR business partners in Global Banking & Markets back-office, globally. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Lead the market intelligence process to ensure the development and delivery of competitive programs that support business goals, are cost effective, align to the Bank’s Global Total Reward Principles and meet legal and other compliance requirements.
- Works closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders to understand challenges and trends
- Ensures programs are competitive with the market and differentiated as appropriate
- Develop and review salary ranges for assigned countries
- Provide salary increase budget recommendations for assigned countries
- Provide advice and counsel to senior leaders and Human Resources business partners, and other key internal stakeholders on compensation issues, as appropriate.
- Develops and reviews appropriate compensation packages in support of recruitment and/or executive appointments
- Provides advice and counsel on year-end compensation planning
- Develop and maintains an external and internal network and awareness of market and industry trends with respect to both Canadian and International compensation matters.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- University degree or related designation (CHRP, CCP, GRP).
- Extensive compensation experience in a large, global corporate environment
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to understand drivers, analyze data and provide recommendations to abstract problems
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the Bank’s non-executive and executive compensation and human resources policies, practices and standards
- Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects/changing priorities concurrently under tight timelines and with multiple stakeholders
- Requires interaction with an increasingly broad range of stakeholders (senior leaders and Human Resources business partners, and other key internal stakeholders) to influence results and lead implementation of compensation programs
- Clear and concise writing skills, especially for senior executives
