Purpose
The Agile Marketing team is responsible for driving operational excellence by standing up and leading Scotiabank’s Campaign Activation Squads for the retail bank by implementing and tracking agile methodologies of the end-to-end process. As the Senior Manager, Agile Marketing you are responsible for driving end to end go to market team effectiveness by identifying and removing impediments, supporting the team, and encouraging practices in accordance with agile principles. The Agile Marketing team is empowered to introduce better ways to drive team productivity and will support his/her team members with the identification of new business opportunities, cost/benefit analysis and delivery. They guide the team by embodying agile values, facilitating ceremonies and supporting a culture of continuous improvement and shared practices and squad governance.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be involved in:
1. As Senior Manager, Agile Marketing you will ensure the team enacts the agile principles, values and framework:
- Provide support to teams using a servant leadership style
- Coach direct reports and squad members to lead and ensure the “agile mindset” is fully adopted and understood with continuous learning and development
- Instill core agile values of focus, commitment, respect, openness and courage into the team’s ground rules through leading by example
- Assess and coach the team to higher levels of performance, tracking acceleration metrics
- Guide the development team on how to integrate agile ceremonies and values into daily work.
- Encourage an environment where open communication and collaborative problem solving can pave the way for faster removal of any impediments and where the impact of mistakes can be minimized through early detection, making them into learning opportunities
- Engage with the team and SMEs to identify resource or technical gaps and develop approaches to remediate.
2. Implement and promote use of agile methodology within the team:
- Track facilitation of agile ceremonies including planning, retrospectives, and daily standups
- Create a forum for discussing vision, goals, and Campaign Backlog amongst the team
- Identify, manage, and help mitigate issues and risks, with particular emphasis on timely removal of impediments for the team and/or directing obstacles to appropriate owners for quick resolution
- Facilitate identifying and enacting improvement strategies to increase the productivity of the team and quality of deliverables
- Ensure team execution and delivery to committed sprint work- maintaining the momentum of the initiative and upholding a sustainable pace of delivery; track agile metrics to provide documentation of momentum and sustainability.
- Understand long-term planning/ roadmap and help inform evolution
3. Develop and nurture strong partnering relationships with Business lines, Analytics, Marketing and stakeholders:
- Develop strong partnerships to gain strong understanding of objectives, sustain open dialogue to manage backlog efficiently
- Influence a wide range of stakeholders to remove impediments, maximize team output and shorten speed to market
- Support and educate the squad members on agile principles and practices to preserve the team from external pressures which may inhibit its productivity
4. Contribute to building organizational capability and expertise on agile adoption:
- Lead and coach the organization in its agile adoption, sharing successes, artifacts, and experience to accelerate transition to new delivery models
- Communicate effectively across diverse audiences within and outside of the development team (Stakeholders, Executives), acting as a champion of the agile methodology
- Partner with other agile teams across the bank to share findings, best practices, and resources to help mature the organization’s agility
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have the following:
- Post-secondary degree in business, marketing or another related field
- 7+ years experience in marketing, campaign management or related fields
- Scrum Master Certification (CSM) is an asset but not required
- Workfront Experience and other Adobe and martech platforms is an asset
- Thorough understanding of scrum / agile principles and values
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to influence management and teams
- Derives satisfaction from mentoring and coaching teams to help them continually improve their working methods and outputs
- Has the ability to liaise within teams and across the organization, working consultatively and influencing change
- Act as a role model, fostering team collaboration, and creative thinking that leads to increased productivity and greater customer satisfaction
- Ability to compile, analyze, and understand large data sets, developing and communicating relevant insights
- Ability to think critically and use a data-driven approach to make decisions / influence outcomes
- Ability to take calculated risks supported by clear rationale (e.g. industry trends, competitive research, and positive cost benefit analysis)
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills that facilitate a positive and effective team environment at all levels of the organization
