Purpose


The Senior Manager, Technology Strategy, is responsible for the development and execution of the technology strategy and overseeing critical business operations within the IT function. This role focuses on developing the technology roadmap, aligning investment and delivery priorities with the Bank’s business strategy, and identifying innovation opportunities that enable future growth. The position plays a key role in coordinating the Technology strategy within the larger ecosystem, ensuring cohesion and alignment across countries, and providing strategic insights that connect vision, execution, and impact.

Accountabilities

• Leads and drives a Client Centric culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Define Technology’s strategic direction and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and global best practices.
• Lead strategic planning and investment cycles, translating business priorities into actionable technology initiatives that drive value and impact.
• Coordinate across the IT ecosystem — including global, regional, and local stakeholders — to ensure a cohesive and synchronized deployment of the strategy, initiatives, and governance model.
• Provide executive storytelling and strategic insights for senior management forums, articulating IT’s progress, opportunities, and value creation.
• Support the CIO and Technology Strategy Director in business reviews (BR), including data gathering, analysis, and report generation, ensuring data-driven discussion and follow-up on key initiatives.
• Develop and deliver presentations and reports for local boards and regulatory bodies, communicating progress, risks, and compliance status.
• Partner with Technology Performance to ensure strategic decisions are supported by robust analytics, KPIs, and insights.
• Identify and assess forward-looking technology trends and operating model opportunities, enabling continuous improvement and innovation within Technology.
• Collaborate with Communications & Change Management to ensure IBTT’s strategy and priorities are effectively communicated and embedded across the country’s teams.
• Advise the Director, Technology Strategy, Performance & Engagement and IT leadership on strategic priorities, portfolio direction, and emerging risks or dependencies.
Support the development, documentation, and ongoing update of the technology strategy and IT roadmap.
• Prepare, review, and maintain comprehensive documentation for technology initiatives, processes, and governance.
• Coordinate the preparation and submission of documentation required by regulators, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, standards, and external regulations in all documentation and reporting activities.
• Maintain organized records and archives of all documentation related to technology strategy, and monthly reports.
• Lead and mentor the Technology Strategy team, ensuring clear role ownership, high delivery standards, and continuous professional growth.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
• Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Qualifications


Education
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, or related fields
• Master’s preferred (e.g., MBA, Public Administration, Operations Research)
Experience
• 3–5 years in banking, consulting, or related industries
• 2+ years managing teams
• Experience in project management, transformation, and strategy development
• Background in business cases and data analysis
Skills
• Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Power BI
• Knowledge of SQL, R, Python (preferred)
• Strong analytical, leadership, and negotiation skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management
• English proficiency (90%)
