Purpose

The Regulatory Reporting team manages and oversees financial regulatory reporting for the Bank and assigned subsidiaries. This includes: governance of the process, including monitoring all Bank compliance with filing requirements; change and project management for new or enhanced returns; relationship management with regulators [e.g. Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, Bank of Canada, the Autorité des marchés financiers , Statistics Canada, Provincial Regulators, Securities and Exchange Commission, the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, US Federal Reserve, and Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation], completion of returns on time (monthly, fiscal quarterly, calendar quarterly, semi-annually, annually, and ad-hoc filings to regulators) , performance of variance analysis, response of regulatory inquiries, internal information providers, participation in Canadian bankers Association meetings and etc.

Reporting to the Director, the Senior Manager is responsible for leading a team of 4–5 direct reports and overseeing the preparation and submission of financial regulatory reporting for the Bank and designated subsidiaries. This role encompasses end‑to‑end regulatory governance, including staying current on evolving regulatory requirements, reviewing assigned regulatory returns prior to submission to ensure material accuracy and completeness, and overseeing or contributing to the implementation of new regulatory returns. The Senior Manager also leads and participates in finance transformation initiatives, process improvements, and other enhancements aimed at driving efficiency, meeting changing external requirements, and maintaining a strong and cohesive control environment.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

Regulatory Reporting

  • Oversee regulatory reporting for the Bank and assigned subsidiaries, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely filings with regulators (e.g., OSFI, Bank of Canada, Statistics Canada, CDIC, U.S. SEC, Federal Reserve), while driving efficient and well-controlled reporting processes.
  • Review assigned returns prior to Director-level review, including detailed reconciliations to OBI and supporting documentation, and deliver insightful trend analysis and variance commentary.
  • Lead the implementation of new or evolving regulatory requirements, including system enhancements, process improvements, and broader team initiatives to ensure ongoing compliance and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes and strengthen the control environment, actively supporting change management efforts
  • Maintain robust controls by keeping Desktop Procedures current with appropriate review and sign-off.
  • Supporting Internal Audit and control testing team with testing and audit requirements, and developing remediation plans and timelines where needed
  • Prepare timely, well-supported draft responses to regulatory inquiries and effectively support interactions with auditors and control testing teams, including walkthroughs and documentation requests.
  • Support team effectiveness and continuity through cross-training and knowledge sharing to ensure adequate coverage.

Accounting and Strategic Initiatives

  • Contribute to accounting and regulatory projects impacting regulatory reporting (e.g., system implementations, accounting standard changes, new products, acquisitions/disposals), primarily related to regulatory mapping updates and impact assessments.

System Maintenance

  • Partner with Global Finance Technology to ensure system reliability and timely implementation of ChartField and reporting changes (including EGL updates) in regulatory outputs.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial regulatory requirements, with a solid foundation in financial and management accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify key insights.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working collaboratively in team and project-based environments, contributing to deliverables and representing departmental requirements.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with working knowledge of regulatory and reporting systems (e.g., EGL, OBI, SmartView, Axiom, Cognos Data Management) and an understanding of system controls and data integrity.
  • Professional accounting designation with 5+ years of relevant experience in financial accounting and regulatory reporting; experience with regulatory returns (e.g., CDIC, GDAL, M4, Z4, 13F) and knowledge of SQL are considered strong assets.
