Purpose

The Senior Analyst will support the AML Operations Center in Bogotá D.C., Colombia, by delivering advanced data analysis, reporting, dashboard development, and project support. This role requires strong technical proficiency in SQL and Python, hands-on experience working with data analytics teams, and the ability to translate complex data into clear insights that support operational performance, risk monitoring, and strategic decision-making. Knowledge of AML, KYC, or financial crime operations is desirable and will be considered an asset.

Accountabilities


• Collaborate with process owners to design and define KPIs and performance metrics (KPI/SLA).
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports aligned with business needs, providing insights and recommendations to the Manager.
• Guide best practices in data visualization and reporting to ensure clarity, consistency, and impact.
• Lead the development of high-impact dashboards by gathering requirements, identifying gaps, and translating needs into detailed project plans.
• Monitor the consistent application of AOC activities in alignment with policy requirements and operational standards.
• Prepare weekly and monthly management briefings and productivity/risk reports to support decision-making and SLA compliance.
• Conduct statistical analysis of data trends to identify opportunities for process improvement and support strategic initiatives.
• Maintain awareness of security and compliance concepts to support ongoing reporting needs.
• Ensure adherence to data reporting standards and methodologies.
• Support project delivery using structured methodologies, including documentation updates and alignment with AML/ATF policies.
• Support AOC budget tracking and variance analysis in coordination with GBS Finance.
• Contribute to the standardization of metrics across AML units in Canada and International Banking.
• Uphold integrity and compliance by reporting any practices that may compromise the organization.
• Execute responsibilities with efficiency, productivity, and adherence to institutional policies and regulations.

Dimensions

  • The Senior Analyst is a seasoned data professional with strong analytical capabilities and advanced technical proficiency in SQL and Python. The role requires experience working in or closely with a data analytics, business intelligence, or reporting team, including the ability to manage large datasets, automate recurring analysis, build dashboards, and deliver insights that support operational and management decision-making.
  • AML, KYC, or financial crime knowledge is desirable, particularly exposure to customer onboarding, enhanced due diligence, operational risk, or regulatory reporting processes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to engage stakeholders across the GBS business unit, ensure credibility and accountability, and translate technical findings into practical business recommendations.
  • While the Senior Analyst is expected to operate independently, they will receive strategic direction and guidance from the Director, Senior Managers, or Managers within the AML Operations Center (AOC).


Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

Technical competencies:

  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • University degree in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience proven experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple sources to support analytical and reporting processes.
  • Demonstrated experience working with data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, or data engineering teams to deliver recurring reports, dashboards, automation initiatives, or analytical projects.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to draw logical conclusions, even with limited data.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python is required, including experience querying, transforming, validating, and analyzing large datasets; experience with Power BI, MS Excel, VBA, Microsoft Access, and the MS Office suite is also required. Familiarity with R Studio is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of data mining techniques and data visualization principles.
  • Familiarity with market trends, competitive products, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to ensure alignment and buy-in from stakeholders.

Knowledge competencies:

  • AML/KYC, financial crime, customer onboarding, enhanced due diligence, or regulatory compliance knowledge is desirable and will be considered an asset.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of banking systems and their interdependencies.
  • Familiarity with systems and applications supporting AML processes (e.g., EDDU).
  • Experience in risk management within the banking or financial services industry.

Working Conditions

Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel internationally/globally.
