Vice President, Business Management, Global Transaction Banking

Purpose

Drives the strategic direction, operating discipline, transformation agenda, and governance infrastructure for Global Transaction Banking enabling global consistency across regions. The role is accountable for establishing and leading the GTB Project Management Office, the Global Transformation Office, the Global Data team, and the Global Business Strategy team. The Managing Director partners across Canadian Banking, International Banking, Global Banking & Markets, Technology, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Audit to ensure GTB priorities are executed with clear ownership, measurable outcomes, disciplined controls, and alignment to Scotiabank’s strategic objectives.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and drive a customer-focused and execution-oriented culture that helps GTB deepen client relationships, leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge, and deliver solutions across Scotiabank’s footprint that generate sustainable revenue and value creation.
  • Serve as a senior operating leader for GTB, supporting the EVP, Global Transaction Banking on strategic direction, annual planning, management routines, executive reporting, and execution of priority initiatives.
  • Build, lead, and mature the GTB Project Management Office, including portfolio governance, prioritization, dependency management, initiative tracking, delivery standards, benefits realization, and executive-level reporting.
  • Establish and lead the Global Transformation Office for GTB, providing centralized oversight of enterprise-wide transformation priorities, operating model simplification, change management, delivery discipline, and cross-functional execution across regions.
  • Manage the new Global Data team, setting the data strategy, governance model, operating cadence, and business-aligned roadmap for analytics, reporting, data quality, insights generation, and decision support across GTB.
  • Manage the Global Business Strategy team, ensuring GTB has a disciplined strategy function that supports market analysis, competitive intelligence, business cases, strategic planning, investment prioritization, and executive decision-making.
  • Maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the GTB business by overseeing annual profit planning inputs, financial and expense management routines, business performance reporting, and integrated management dashboards.
  • Act as a secondary point of contact for GTB globally as deputy of the GTB business and may need to step in or have permanent positions representing GTB on committees and forums as required and coordinating with Canadian Banking, International Banking, Global Banking & Markets, Technology, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Audit.
  • Plan, coordinate, manage, execute, and report on key projects and initiatives across GTB’s footprint, including business cases for new initiatives, implementation oversight, milestone tracking, benefits realization, and escalation of risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Drive disciplined governance for strategic priorities, audit closures, regulatory and systemic issues, operational risk issues, and control remediation across global GTB business units.

Key Scope

  • Managing Director role supporting the global GTB agenda with accountability for core operating, transformation, strategy, and data functions.
  • Build and lead the GTB Project Management Office as the central mechanism for portfolio governance, prioritization, standards, reporting, and benefits realization.
  • Build and lead the Global Transformation Office to drive cross-regional transformation, operating model simplification, change management, and execution discipline.
  • Manage the new Global Data team, including data strategy, data governance, analytics, reporting, data quality, and business insights across GTB.
  • Manage the Global Business Strategy team, including strategic planning, competitive analysis, business cases, investment prioritization, and executive-level decision support.
  • Coordinate across North America, Europe, and LATAM to support globally consistent execution and management routines.

Dimensions

  • Leads a multi-disciplinary operating, transformation, project management, data, and strategy function supporting GTB across the U.S. and global regions.
  • Provides support to GTB teams across North America, Europe, and LATAM.
  • Primary point of contact for GTB operating governance, transformation execution, portfolio management, strategic planning, and business data priorities.
  • Manages execution of business initiatives and projects, including initiative funding, business cases, implementation oversight, and benefits tracking.
  • Supports management of the Business-as-Usual operating budget, annual planning process, expense governance, and performance reporting routines

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • University degree with a major in business, finance, economics, analytics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred, with a concentration in business, finance, analytics, technology, transformation, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in financial services, business strategy, transformation, operating management, consulting, data/analytics, or large-scale program delivery.
  • Proven experience building or leading PMO, transformation, strategy, data, governance, or operating teams in a complex, global financial institution.
  • Strong analytical skills and executive communication capability, with the ability to convert complex information into clear recommendations, decision papers, and executive-level reporting.
  • Strategic influencing skills and relationship-building capability to persuade and align internal and external stakeholders, senior management, control partners, and business leaders.
  • Thorough knowledge of transaction banking products, client needs, market dynamics, competitive trends, regulatory expectations, and global operating models.
  • Ability to work at pace, manage ambiguity, and adapt to constant change while maintaining disciplined governance and control standards
  • Spanish language a plus.
