If so, we invite you to join our dynamic risk management team as a Data Engineer Senior Manager.
As the team continues to grow in response to increasing complexity and regulatory requirements, this high-impact role offers the opportunity to design, implement, and enhance market data and analytics framework for market risk and counterparty credit risk, leverage data analytics tools, improve risk data accuracy, and drive actionable insights that support critical decision-making for business and management. You'll work alongside an exceptional team to have a direct impact on the Bank’s risk management strategy, ensuring robust and accurate stress testing processes that support informed decision-making, regulatory compliance, and the Bank’s overall risk appetite.
Market Data Team is at the center of market data for both market and counterparty credit risk. Market Data is a first-class risk function, not a support function. It’s critical for VaR explainability and Stress Testing credibility. The focus is to manage the Bank’s market data inventory, provide in-depth analysis to monitor and improve data quality, accuracy and utilizations, ensure capital adequacy, and promote proactive risk management across all trading desks and portfolios. We are also adding a market data intelligence capability to directly and proactively improve risk accuracy, risk explainability, monitoring and regulatory compliance. A modern Market Data team can add major strategic value beyond traditional sourcing/cleansing. Close partnerships are maintained with senior leaders, trading desks, product specialists, model development, model validation, regulatory compliance, and technology.
Market data team is the end-to-end owner of market risk data inputs:
- Based on FO’s recommendation of data sources, defines market data strategy aligned with risk and regulatory needs and ensures market data is onboarded for fit-for-purpose
- Maintains the inventory of data sources and oversees data quality and governance for all risk data
- To ensure all required risk factors are covered with appropriate sources
- To leverage data AI agent to monitor and improve market data quality
- To turn raw market data into risk-consumable inputs and ensure data is not just available but fit-for-purpose for risk usage using tools like monitoring and AI
- To ensure compliance with Enterprise Data Standards
- Sets prioritization across asset classes and initiatives based on market data analytics
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- 12-month contract position.
- Actively engaged in discussions and collaboration with other groups within risk management as well as other stakeholders.
- Thrive in a high-performance environment within a diverse team, the individual will be working in a collaborative environment.
- Work closely with other senior managers within the team as needed, as well as the peers in market risk model development team, capital market stress testing team, and trade floor risk management teams, providing data and data analytics support across designated coverage areas.
- Responsibilities may shift depending on evolving priorities and business needs.
- Be responsible for ensuring accurate data lineage, integrity, and availability across all stages of the risk calculation process.
- Collaborating with risk stakeholders and business partners to design and implement data solutions, as well as coordinating with risk champions to address data gaps and enhance data quality frameworks.
- Executing day-to-day data operations, including identifying and implementing corrective actions, performing analytical investigations, and managing proxy selection and maintenance for risk factors.
- Work closely with the modelling team and stress testing team to support data calibration, scenario design, and validation.
- Play a key role in enhancing data quality, improving risk insights, and supporting critical decision-making across the organization.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- Graduated from a quantitative discipline such as (but not limited to) Economics, Financial engineering, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Data science, or Mathematics, with a strong interest in risk, statistical modeling, research, and data visualization.
- 3+ years of experience in capital markets, with good understanding of data usage in finance, derivative products, market risk and counterparty credit risk measures.
- highly detail-oriented with strong expertise in market data, risk analytics, and data operations to support capital markets risk management activities.
- A deep understanding of how market data feeds into risk models, including the full data lifecycle from external vendors through internal systems into risk engines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills
- Hands-on experience in data management and a comprehensive understanding of capital markets risk frameworks
- Solid quantitative skills with exceptional and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Data analysis using programming languages/applications such as Python, SQL, Unix shell scripting, PowerBI and any AI-assisted tools.
- High proficiency in MS Office suite.
