Responsibilities
Societe Generale Global Transaction Banking (GTB) includes payment and cash management, cash clearing services, trade services, factoring and foreign exchange services associated to these activities.
GTB integrates all the expertise and services required to facilitate the daily transactional activities of major economic and financial actors both in a domestic and international scope. In SG Brussels the GTB team covers Payments and Cash Management (PCM) and Trade Services (TRA) both strategic activities for Societe Generale. With over 6000 specialists in over 40 countries, GTB represents a major player in banking flows and trade services and we rely on our strong presence in Europe and mature and emerging markets worldwide. We can offer the expertise of a large international banking group and experience spanning over twenty years. We can intervene in cash management and trade services in Europe, Africa, Asia, Americas, Overseas, and in the Middle East.
Our GTB Trade Services Desk in Brussels is promoting, managing and developing Trade Finance solutions for all our clients in Belgium and, in a back-up role, for the Netherlands and Nordic countries. Furthermore, it is actively acquiring new business prospects in close cooperation with the global Trade Finance network and other related departments in the Bank. As part of the Trade Sales Department, the Trade Middle Officer will be responsible for supporting the origination of Trade Finance transactions, as well as monitoring and ensuring a proper execution of all Trade Finance transactions within the local desk.
As Middle Officer Trade Services you will support the Trade team in Country.
You will report to the Head of GTB Middle Office in Belgium.
Products and services to be marketed will include, amongst others:
Domestic and International Guarantees
Import Letters of Credit
Export Letters of Credit
Active cross-selling with the different Business Lines of the Bank especially with the factoring department of GTB
The role requires a strong client service orientation, operational and process knowledge, knowledge of regulatory and risk processes, analytical and communication skills as well as professional integrity at all times.
He/she will be an effective team player and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Tasks and responsibilities:
Develop a close relationship with Clients throughout the pre, mid and post implementation stages and identify new opportunities
Create added value for Clients pro-actively identifying synergies within the Global Transaction Banking Business Lines
Act as first point of contact for our customers and discuss with them operational specificities of their requests (e.g. required changes on guarantee texts or discrepancies on LC documents)
Manage the entire process associated with incoming: Issuance, amendment and cancellation requests for domestic and international guarantees
Support the process associated with incoming: Issuance, amendment, document presentation and cancellation requests for import and export letters of credit
Ensure that all transactions are conducted in line with internal policies and regulatory guidelines
Fee monitoring / management /debiting / preparation of invoices in close dialogue and alignment with back office
Prepare internal / external monthly business reports and other relevant reporting / statistics
Close cooperation with GTB Front Office and support of Senior Trade Bankers
Support with execution of Permanent Supervision Controls
