Responsibilities

The Energy+ Batteries, Mining and Industries Group Australia & New Zealand, based in Sydney, is responsible for the origination and implementation of structured and project finance for clients and large projects. This role will primarily focus on the Energy sector. This includes owners, developers and investors in renewable energy, power and waste energy projects, energy storage, major energy utilities including regulated and non-regulated utilities, local and international owners in the gas & LNG segment, petrochemical industries and energy shippers including gas pipelines.

Other clients include financial, institutional and pension funds and multi-national clients whose reach extends across multiple business lines.

We are currently looking for an experienced Director to join our Energy+ Batteries, Mining and Industries Group with a focus on the energy sector. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and market-leading team within a fast-paced, results focused, global organization with strong growth ambitions for the Australian and New Zealand business. The successful candidate will be responsible for originating, developing and executing structured finance transactions in the energy sector in the Australian and New Zealand market and will have the opportunity to build close relationships with the teams onshore and within the organization more broadly on a regional and global basis.

The Director, Energy+ Batteries, Mining and Industries Group Australia & New Zealand will be responsible for:

  • Contributing directly to the Energy+ Batteries, Mining and Industries Group business across Australia & New Zealand, consistent with its strategy
  • Being located in Sydney, the role includes a particular focus upon Australian and New Zealand clients and projects, however, there will be cross collaboration with the global team;
  • Leading the origination and execution of advisory & lending mandates to arrange tailor-made finance transactions for clients;
  • Assisting and leading deal teams to provide best-in-class lending and advisory services to clients; and
  • Introducing other internal departments to clients or transactions (i.e. cross-sales).

As such, they will focus on:

  • Contributing to the effective and responsible execution of structured lending and advisory mandates for the Energy+ Batteries, Mining and Industries Group , including day to day management and/or senior execution support of key mandates and activities;
  • Maintaining and building relationships with target clients;
  • Originating advisory and lead arranging roles in the Energy sector;
  • Overseeing the effective and responsible execution of advisory and arranging mandates in accordance with business line procedures, all relevant compliance practices and other internal requirements;
  • Provide guidance and coaching to junior team members, fostering their professional development and enhancing their technical expertise and commercial abilities
  • Other main tasks will include the determination and negotiation of financing terms & conditions, the management of the due diligence process, reviewing and providing senior input into credit applications, term sheet drafting and preparation of offers and agreements, negotiating and executing loan documentation assisted by external and/or internal lawyers;
  • Coordinating & working jointly with teams who hold responsibility for the portfolio management of the loans including coordination with the middle office and front office client portfolio team;
  • Monitoring and providing follow-up in the client relationship with the client coverage managers;
  • Maintaining a thorough knowledge of developments and current trends in the Asia-Pacific energy sector; and
  • Maintaining a strong personal network of industry, client and peer contacts.

Functional Relationships:

Internal: staff from business divisions and support functions locally, regionally and globally

External: clients, prospects and external advisors (e.g. legal counsel, insurance, accounting & tax, market, technical and financial model) plus ECA’s & multi-laterals where relevant
