Here at Sony Music Entertainment, we are shaping what’s next in a way that creates impact. Forging powerful new ideas at the heart of music, technology, and culture that entertain and move people. This is your opportunity. Part of a global community, united by individual passion, rising to that challenge every day. Adapting at pace and supporting one another, inspired to influence the future. For the benefit of you, our people; our creators, our business, and wider society too. This is your chance to shape your impact on Sony Music and beyond.

Sony Music Commercial Group (CG) oversees a vast collection of legendary artists and their iconic catalogue. ‘Catalogue’ refers to anything which is older than 42 months – everything from Whitney Houston to One Direction, The Clash to Miguel, George Michael to George Ezra, Elvis Presley to Calvin Harris, Mariah Carey to Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen to Jamiroquai, and everything in between! The Commercial Group produces, manages, and maintains this catalogue, representing nearly every musical genre, building legacies for our artists that stand the test of time in the same way that their music has. Commercial Group strives to bring fans even closer to their favourite artists, and to introduce audiences to other artists across Sony’s catalogue, ensuring that our artists and their culture-defining catalogues remain culturally relevant for generations to come. We reimagine the past to inspire the future.

Our catalogue marketing activity exists in conjunction with artists and Sony’s frontline labels on a non-stop basis, taking place when artists are both in and out of album cycle; identifying opportunities, moments, and trends which could bring fans closer to their favourite artists, and which could introduce them to other artists in Sony’s vast catalogue.

To say the role and the department is varied would be an understatement, and the year-long internship will allow you to see exactly how our marketing team operates, both in terms of physical releases and marketing campaigns within the realm of streaming. We are a close-knit team who love music and are passionate about creating legacies for our artists and their work. We value dedication, passion, and innovative thinking in all that we do, and strive to create an environment in which experience and knowledge is constantly being shared. Key to the role is keeping abreast of social media trends and short-form content which uses music – identifying and amplifying these moments is an important part of what we do.
