The Role

Spencer Stuart is looking for a Corporate Accountant with a background in IFRS to work directly with accounting management and the corporate accounting team to assist with all facets of financial transactions and analysis. This individual will be responsible for the review of applicable accounting data on leases, and review of both the classification and accounting transactions in our lease management system (FinQuery) based on IFRS 16. Additionally, he or she will also be responsible for carrying out specific monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes which includes general accounting, financial reporting, and payroll review/processing.

Key responsibilities

Corporate Accountant will focus on one or more of the following:

• Assist in month-end closing of the general ledger, focusing on leases and fixed asset accounting, including preparation and posting of appropriate journal entries.
• Responsible with the key control of capturing all new leases or lease updates on a timely basis and prepare lease footnotes schedules.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations as needed.
• Produce accurate monthly and quarterly reports for the Firm.
• Analyze and review financial and business information effectively to extract useful business insights.
• Satisfy external auditors request for information.
• Participate in miscellaneous finance related projects as needed.
• Maintain and improve current procedures.

Required qualifications

Work Experience

The Corporate Accountant is a self-starter who is self-disciplined with tremendous attention to detail. This individual has a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment. He or she will have strong organizational skills and the ability to proactively work with other departments, colleagues, and external auditors.

The Corporate Accountant has 3 – 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a multi-national environment.

Expertise in IFRS is required.

Education

An undergraduate degree in Accounting mandatory.
