Your Opportunity
As a Construction Coordinator, you will be working on Residential, Commercial, and Institutional infrastructure projects as a member of our Field Services Team within Stantec’s Calgary Community Development Business Centre. The primary responsibilities for this role are varied; however generally involve the coordination of construction activities and contract administration in Calgary and in surrounding communities.

Your Key Responsibilities
The coordination of daily onsite construction activities is a key responsibility of this role. You will be working alongside project teams to ensure that infrastructure projects are completed as per designs/specifications and prepared for acceptance by our municipal partners. Working hours are split between the office and project sites. A successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Overseeing contract administration, including contract preparation, execution, interpretation, cost, and completion monitoring and control, review and preparation of progress payment certificates, change control reporting, and contract closeout.
Completing quantity take-offs from engineering drawings for use in construction contracts and for the preparation of opinions of probable cost.
Preparation of cost analysis and recommendations of costs for client consideration.
Daily on-site construction coordination, including liaising with contractors, City of Calgary/other Municipal staff, geotechnical consultants, and construction surveyor, as well as other specialized consultants.
Coordination of final inspections with contractors, Municipalities and senior Stantec staff in preparation for submission of completion certificates.
Conduct onsite observation on a full-time basis as required. This may include the supervision of junior field observation staff.
Review, coordination and implementation of erosion and sediment controls on active work sites.
Request documentation and review of compliance testing from sub consultants and The City of Calgary, as well as ensure that all relevant data and reports are complete and confirm that contractors have completed all work as per engineering drawings and project specifications.
Meet, review and report to the project team on construction status, issues, and concerns.
Actively participate in the implementation of safety controls, lead safety meetings and actively promote safety and a safe work culture in the workplace.

Ability to work with others on large complex projects that require teamwork and close collaboration, as you may be working on multiple teams on multiple infrastructure projects in a very fast paced and dynamic work environment.
Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, proactive creativity, and innovation.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Very well organized and highly attentive to details.
Able to work under and meet tight deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks as required.
Education and Experience
An ideal candidate possesses the following attributes/qualifications:
A recent graduate of a post-secondary technical engineering or construction management program.
Alternatively, a minimum of 2 years construction or resident consulting experience on residential land development or commercial infrastructure projects will be considered.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include long days (12 hours), with last minute schedule changes and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. A valid driver’s license class 5 driver’s license (no restrictions), and the ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs is a requirement for this position.
