Your Opportunity
An exciting new opportunity exists for a successful candidate to lead our team of project managers in the delivery of land development projects in the Eastern Ontario/Atlantic Region. Reporting to the Practice Lead in Community Development, you will be responsible for the oversight and practices of project delivery for all our engineering projects in the Atlantic Region. As the Team Lead, you are responsible for the support and development of our Project Managers while also contributing, as a leadership team member, to the strategy and success of the Community Development business line in Atlantic Region. Each Project Manager leads a multi-discipline Project Team that includes urban planners, landscape architects, surveyors, civil engineering designers, field staff and shallow utility designers all necessary to design, plan and build new communities.
Both establishing and strengthening project planning and controls systems for your team while providing leadership and support on client relations are central to this challenging role. Demonstrated project management skills, advanced understanding of municipal approvals processes, civil engineering design and analytical skills, financial management and leadership of project teams are critical aspects required for this role.
Your Key Responsibilities
Direct supervision and support for Project Managers who oversee the planning, design and construction of new communities (residential, industrial and commercial).
Support Project Managers who are the point of contact for the client – ensuring client needs are understood and exceeded on a consistent basis.
Financial leadership and oversight of our program of projects beginning with proposals, including invoicing and financial reporting, through to close out.
Recruitment and retention of Project Managers, including skill development training and performance management.
Advanced ability to anticipate and resolve issues while seizing opportunities to work more effectively with municipal governments, partners and communities throughout projects.
Responsible for driving consistent and effective delivery on all projects.
Responsible for the consistent use of project schedules, budgets, project controls and reporting to meet the needs of our clients.
Guiding projects through to completion, whether it is due diligence/feasibility work, preliminary/conceptual design, detailed design, scheduling, tendering and construction
Contributing technical direction, design review and detailed design on numerous simultaneous land development files, and providing quality review of deliverables
Leading and/or independently preparing design reports in support of potential land development projects.
Liaising with clients, agencies and others to obtain approvals.
Supervision and mentoring of designers, technologists and administrative staff.
Ensuring that the clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Undertaking business development and promotional activities with new and existing clients in the pursuit of new projects, and the cross-selling of other practice areas, including client outreach and preparing work programs, proposals and fee estimates.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Thorough understanding of the Community Development industry within Atlantic Region and surrounding areas.
Demonstrated project management skills, advanced understanding of municipal approvals processes and financial management.
Strong leadership approach that challenges staff while providing support for success.
Ability to anticipate challenges and seek opportunities to improve business processes and practices for client success.
Must be a self-motivated individual possessing superior written and verbal communication skills.
Must work well in a leadership role within a collaborative team environment.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering. With a thorough understanding of civil engineering design, obtained through 10 years’ experience in land development engineering.
Registered as a Professional Engineer or Certified Civil Engineering Technologist in one or more of the Atlantic Provinces.
Technical degree/diploma/certificate in fields directly related to land development, with a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Project Manager.
Post graduate degree in Project or Construction Management considered a significant asset.
Knowledge of project planning and controls software is required.
Position will primarily work in an office setting. Travel required to other Stantec office locations, the field and/or meetings with clients.

Salary Range(s):
- $92,100 - $138,200 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in PEI
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
