Your Opportunity You will work on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Fully Qualified or Senior I&C Engineer/Designer. The Engineer should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer certain electrical power and lighting systems or products for a project. An I&C Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, and field work. The smaller projects that an I&C EIT may be assigned to will have relatively few complex features.
Your Key Responsibilities
Supporting control systems engineering and automation designs
Producing construction drawings and datasheets using computer-aided engineering production tools
Assist in the development of specifications
Assist in reviewing contractor submittals
Supporting engineering services during construction
Active participation in field data-gathering and equipment assessment assignments
Working in a manner to ensure personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies
Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer
Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer.
Performs basic calculations to analyze and design I&C system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software
Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity
Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions
Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Basic understanding of AutoCad, and the use of it as an electrical design tool
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
Basic understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material
Water/Wastewater related infrastructure is considered a significant asset
Strong oral and written communication skills
Must demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction
Basic knowledge of standard desktop software is required including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access; Adobe pdf tools
Programming experience (PLC, Microprocessor, C , SQL structures, etc.) is desirable
Ability to take direction, follow process and accept feedback and suggestions from Senior Engineers / Designers
Willing and able to travel. Occasional international travel may be required
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Co-op / internship experience preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
