Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual to join our team in the Waterloo office for the May – December 2025 (8-month) term as a Surface Water Resources Engineering Co-op. As the successful candidate, you will use your technical abilities to complete the surface water resources component(s) of a wide variety of projects in a dynamic design team setting. You will report directly to the Project Manager or Team Lead and will have primarily design responsibilities.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking detailed studies, modeling and design tasks associated with stormwater management works (including low impact development (LID) design), subwatershed studies, floodplain delineation / management analyses, erosion control studies, and stream restoration projects

  • Coordinating with engineers, technical staff and or team members to ensure that the projects needs are met in a timely and effective manner

  • Completing field assignment including the monitoring of surface water systems and features (i.e. LIDs, stormwater ponds, etc.), culvert inspections, infiltration testing, etc.

  • Researching issues related to surface water resources that impact individual projects

  • Writing reports and design briefs to document field assignments and desktop analyses

  • Taking responsibility for the quality of your written, technical and graphic work and for completing work in time and on budget

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • All applicants must have a valid G driver’s license and a vehicle to complete the required field assignments (mileage reimbursement will be provided).

Education and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a related Engineering program.
