Your Opportunity
Stantec’s Program Management / Construction Management (PMCM) Group is seeking a Construction Manager to work on large, complex water projects and programs. The position is focused on achieving project goals and objectives, effective administration of the owner’s construction-related contracts, and coordination of project delivery with internal and external stakeholders. The role may include co-location with the client staff in a project office.
Your Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage other staff
Coordinates with inspection staff and outside testing and inspection resources
Manage project or projects over $400 million
Administers the construction contract by interpreting and enforcing contract documents and verifying quality and safety goals are met
Oversees the issuance of all contract correspondence to the construction contractor
Recommends construction contractor payment applications
Oversees the construction change management process
Develop and maintain client relationships
Attend weekly construction coordination meetings, preconstruction walks, in-progress site visits, punch walks, and construction closeout
Manage the review and approval of submittals, request for information, design clarifications and other construction related documents
Review Contractor’s construction schedule
Coordinate field surveys
Monitor and report progress of construction
Coordinate with governing agencies
Recommend acceptance of substantial and final completion
Oversee equipment testing, training, startup, closeout, and warranty tasks
Respond to work delays, emergencies, and other project disruptions
Coordinate with Public Outreach, Real Estate, Permitting, Controls, and other functions as necessary
Participate in constructability reviews
Participate in bid reviews
Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following client and company health and safety guidelines and policies and supporting contractor health and safety performance
Complete miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Understanding of alternative delivery models such as CM/GC, Design-Build, or Progressive Design-Build
Proficient in MS Office Suite products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Excellent organizational skills, capacity to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently, and quickly adapt to new priorities
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to exceptional client service
Demonstrated ability to build trust and positive business relationships
Effective problem-solving, facilitation, and negotiation skills
Willing and able to travel (if required)
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required
Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred
Ten or more years of related and relevant work experience
Experience in Project and Construction Management and Owner’s Representative role in the review, construction support, site and field management, permitting requirements, understanding of local codes compliance and regulations, conformance with plans, specifications, contractor’s practices, QC/QA and inspections, commissioning, close-out, and final acceptance
