Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight on significant projects within the scope of the practice area and be available to the project delivery teams when needed.

  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with new and existing clients.

  • Ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Foster collaboration and sharing of resources between the various departments within Stantec.

  • Assist in Facade design from early concept design through construction documentation.

  • Prepare preliminary façade details for the client to integrate into the design documents.

  • Assist with preliminary Façade Secondary Structures engineering.

  • Review design documents, shop drawings, and trade submittals prepared by third parties for conformance with good building practice with respect to water intrusion, air leakage, vapor diffusion, thermal performance and differential movement

  • Undertake field review of both new construction and rehabilitation projects to confirm that the construction of the building envelope assemblies is proceeding per approved mock-ups and design documents.

  • Prepare site visit reports and use this database to generate Action Lists of outstanding deficiencies and track their resolution.

  • Conduct presentations to competing interests including working with legal professionals, contractors and consultants.

  • Assist in field work associated with the assessment of existing buildings and the preparation of facade assessment reports.

  • Perform forensic analysis of facade failures.

  • Review and write proposals for new work.

  • Lead, advise, and assist in business development efforts to secure high value projects for architectural as well as manufacturing clients. Prepare and execute business development strategies to build the practice area at desirable profit margins. Support client managers and department managers in all aspects of business development, marketing and sales plans and initiatives, and project execution.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.

  • Knowledge of CAD and/or Revit, THERM, and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.

  • Practical knowledge of energy code, rain screen principles, air barriers and thermal performance.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment with a strong customer service commitment.

  • Requires the ability to work on active construction sites.

  • Position requires minimal travel regionally, and out of state. You must have all the travel documents required.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license & a clean Motor Vehicle Record

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Building Science or Façade consultation or similar experience assessing, detailing, testing and or constructing building envelope systems.

  • Strong understanding of advanced glazing systems, cladding, rain screens, air barriers, flashing and other related systems.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture with a background in Building Science or Façades.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
