Your Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a Bridge Team Lead, reporting directly to the British
Columbia Bridge Lead, to become part of our dynamic transportation business group in
British Columbia. Stantec’s transportation business group has a strong local presence
and participates in some of Stantec’s largest and most iconic transportation projects -
locally, nationally, and globally. The successful candidate will be someone with a strong
bridge design and management background also demonstrating exceptional leadership,
communication, and passion for leading and empowering teams.
A Bridge Team Lead has interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to foster a
positive team environment, work collaboratively with multiple disciplines and support a
culture of safety. Through your broad consulting background, you will perform a variety
of tasks which may include design & design management, business planning and
growth, project management, people leadership, client account management, resource
planning, proposal writing, and quality management.
Your Key Responsibilities
Bridge Engineering and Project Management:
Planning and design of bridges and other structures related to various highway, transit, and rail projects.
Supervising the work of structural analysts and designers for a variety of transportation structures.
Project management for significant bridge projects and multi-disciplinary projects involving bridges.
Leading design of select bridge projects, including Engineer of Record and Coordinating Professional Engineer responsibilities.
Preparing contract documents, cost estimates, reports, and proposals.
Preparing and presenting information to clients, the public, and other stakeholders.
Providing direction to and mentoring junior and intermediate designers and technical support staff.
Regular collaboration with colleagues in our multi-disciplined design offices.
Client account management, business development, and marketing activities.
Leading project coordination meetings with internal team members and / or external consultants, owners and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
People, Process, and Business Leadership:
The Team Lead role is also responsible for growing the bridge engineering and management business practice within the transportation business centre.
Consult with clients and client account planning as required.
Leadership of a team of highly skilled bridge engineers, engineers in training, technologists, designers, and co-op students to successfully execute projects of varying sizes and complexity.
Workload and resource planning for the transportation bridge team.
Mentoring and technical development of junior designers and EIT’s.
Staff performance reviews and career development.
Coordination with other discipline leads to ensure resources are allocated properly and projects are executed well.
Liaising with other leadership to ensure alignment of corporate goals and effective use of resources and knowledge.
Internal leadership in design excellence, coaching, recruitment, and retention.
Overseeing and managing multiple projects.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Capabilities, Education and Experience
Graduate degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
Working knowledge of CHBDC.
Knowledgeable on BC Ministry of Transportation and Transportation standards, policies and procedures.
Experience in preparing proposals and reports.
Ability to lead individuals and teams on project assignments.
Experience in bridge design, inspections, condition surveys, rehabilitation, asset management and construction phases of projects.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Position will work in person and remotely to serve the BC region with a preference to have at the minimum 3 days per week in office work with some field work as required.

Pay Range:
- Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 102,300.00 - Max Salary $ 153,500.00
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
